I just received my report card, and after getting As and Bs on previous terms, I received a 79% on for my final quarter grade in Chemistry.
Chemistry Honors has been the hardest class I have taken by far. Looking back now, I should have tried harder. But honestly, I have never taken a class where I have payed attention in class and taken good notes, and then still left the classroom on any given day without even barely grasping the material. I would visit my teacher for extra help, then study at home, and then still receive Cs on tests or quizzes. this was so frustrating. Chemistry is difficult, but I believe my teacher, while a nice lady, absolutely s*cked at teaching chemistry.
I knew my grade was in the C-B range, so I went to talk with her. She said that once she put in more grades, and the extra credit project she gave our class, my grade would be back in the 80s. I am so annoyed that I know see a 79 on my report card.
Should I email this teacher?
Im getting a new guidance counselor next year, my current one is leaving. Should I try to explain to new guidance counselor what went down?
What was your grade on the final exam? I’m not sure what there is to explain to a new guidance counselor (that won’t make you sound like a whiner) or ask the teacher about. It sounds like you earned a 79.
my final exam grade was 76, but those are weighted much less at my school

^^that is more the issue I have. She (teacher) was very spacey/forgetful/would loose things, and I’m sort of concerned.

I don’t think there’s much you can do here. Best case scenario, you can get your 79 rounded to an 80, but if that’s your final grade, I say accept it.
Here’s a tip to improve GPA. Try to take classes you’re actually interested in. If it’s not a required course for graduation, and you completely hate the class, don’t take it. The lack of motivation for a class you don’t even need to take will make your grades suffer.
Having a bad teacher isn’t really an excuse anymore. My Calc teacher literally has a 9% passing rate. That’s not even in the double digits… I took the initiative and LISTENED/WATCHED LECTURES ONLINE and got a 5 on the AP test. If your teacher is bad, find a new one. There’s so much content on YouTube, khan academy, and iTunes U.
