I got a D

I am a sophomore in high school and I got a D in Spanish 2 and I was wondering how it would effect me in my future and if I should retake class online cause I heard it is easier. I have really stressing a lot cause my friends are super smart and they are saying I would have to go to a community college. I am not currently taking any APs but next year I am taking 3.

The rest are my grades are as follows

A/net sports
B/English 9
C/Geometry
C or B idk yet/Chemistry
A/Global studies
B/ Art

Currently cumulative GPA
3.1 (these grade are not part of this GPA yet only first semester second semester freshman and first semester sophomore are in).

Help pls

Here are some ideas to change what you are doing:

Talk to your Guidance Counselor about retaking Spanish 2.

with 2 years left in HS your concern shouldn’t be picking colleges, it should be how to do better in school. You’re getting B’s and C’s. It may be you’re not studying enough, it may be you’re not studying effectively because nobody explained how. Coursera has a free class “Learning How To Learn for Youth” covering this at and you might also want to read the book “Make it Stick” that discusses learning with lots of tips for HS and college students

Your “friends” aren’t nearly as smart as they think, and they’re getting pleasure out of putting you down. I think the first thing you should do is reconsider some of those friendships.

Speak to your guidance counselor. And know that, as a B/C student in most of your core subjects, there are plenty of colleges that will be happy to have you. And if you bring that up to a solid B, there will be a lot more.
Do what you can to earn good grades, and don’t let the comments of those “friends”-- and I use the term loosely-- make you question yourself.

Sorry, one more thought: push hard in these last weeks and get that Chem grade up to a solid B!

In your shoes, I would reconsider taking three AP classes next year. You are not coping with your regular level subjects all that well. You should be taking some kind of foreign language next year. I can’t see your plan being a benefit to you. Please meet with your guidance counselor right away and ask about options for a more manageable course load.

Edit: there is nothing wrong with community college, but you don’t have to have that as your only option. Your friends are not helpful, so I would ignore them.
