My daughter was a STEM likely (invited to the YES weekend which was in February - I don’t think they do that anymore). We didn’t tell anyone at all until the official notice in late March. But we believed it!
There is nothing unofficial about the LL. It comes in a big thick envelop just like the proverbial acceptance package, though it is delivered via two day Fedex instead of USPS. The letter even has the “Congratulations” at the top. Yale Admissions timed it perfectly by having the AO calling the applicant on the day before package’s arrival and then emailing the recipient.
But the most impressive part about the Yale LL is that it offers some perks like no other. Not only LLs are invited to a special weekend but are given travel reimbursement regardless of FA status. Even more amazing Yale would assign a student liaison who matches LL’s interests, to talk to LLs about Yale programs and experience, for about an hour, every time, every week till April.
There is still YES(Yale Engineering and Science) weekend, but its moved to April this year. It coincides with Harvard’s Visitas and other HYPSM admit weekends. Yale probably guessed it correctly that there would be many cross admits among its LLs.
@jzducol Yeah, I find it hilarious that Yale scheduled YES weekend for the same time as Visitas
Hi! sorry to barge in on this convo, but I just received my likely letter in the mail today, but I didn’t receive a phone call or email. Is it normal to receive a phone call and email along with the likely letter, or is it normally just the letter itself?
@bookluver04 I received a phone call and email last Thursday, but haven’t received my letter yet. I’d say it depends on the admissions officer who advocated for you whether you receive a call or not. Welcome to the family and join the GroupMe for c/o 2022!
I would also bet that this isn’t something they are going to leave on an answering machine. In our case (2011) my daughter got a call around dinner time and we were home to answer it (and she was home as well). If they can’t reach you in person they may just send the letter.
^^ Excellent point @donnaleighg
@xxluvforeverxx there’s a GroupMe for the class of 2022?
I just received a phone call and email. Thanks everyone for answering
@calculess Yes, if you go on the Class of 2022 FB group and scroll down, you’ll see how to join the GroupMe.
Hey @bookluver04 I didn’t receive a call or email either at first, but I did receive my likely letter yesterday before anything else. That makes two of us!
