Okay, so last year, UCLA posted preliminary admissions statistics that showed the number of applicants that applied to each major, as well as the average gpa of all those applicants. I think last year it was posted sometime during March, maybe even February. So, what the hell man? The entering class of 2010 is getting shafted! >= l

[Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2009 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof09_mjr.htm) ?

Yeah, I’m referring to that. But, last year that information came out in an incomplete form. It only had the “# applied,” “avg.-gpa applied,” and I think the “avg.-units applied,” but it came out pretty earlier in the year. I hope they do the same thing this year, because I want to see if the avg.-gpa for applicants in my major has gone up or down, and also if the economy has made majors more impacted. I know you could probably assume that worst, that the avg.-gpa has gone up and more people have applied, but I want some evidence. I’m tired of all the skepticism.

If you look at the trends for schools like UCLA and UCB by major, over the past 10 years, you’ll see that every year it gets slightly more difficult to transfer into. Each major becomes more exclusive. Now, of course, there are a few majors that will go down from like Avg. GPA admitted: 3.71 -> 3.70, or very small majors that hardly anyone applies to that may fall from 3.5 -> 3.4, but the general trend each year is an increase in exclusiveness, meaning an increase in Avg. GPA admitted.

it came out after decisions last year.

^ Really? =(

Dammit…

actually i think uccasualty is right, i think i remember seeing those preliminary stats before i got my decisions for hs
