I got caught cheating!

Hello, I really need help on my situation. I am currently a senior and is top 10% of my school.
Today, I got caught in my French class for sharing answers on the quiz with my friend. For 2 questions on the quiz, both of us put same answers that were far off from the correct one. So my teacher got suspicious and gave us referral. I have to talk to him tomarrow. Should I admit that I cheated or should i say that we shared the same note and may be we put down the same answer? We were the only ones taking a make up quiz. I asked her for the recommendation and i will be screwed if I admit that I cheated. Should I try my best to convince her that I didn't cheat?
Also in my school, the cheating doesnt go onto the transcript, but since I asked her for the recommendation, what should I do?

Don't lie. That will definately come back to bite you. Tell the truth, take your lick, move on. Make it a lession in life. Atleast you are learning this now, instead of cheating at a time when a lot worse things could happen.

Also even if I get F on the quiz, I think I can still get a B in the class. But if I admit, my life will be screwed!! Also do teachers know if you are lying or not? I think I will really convince her that i didnot cheat.

Tell her that you cheated. Tell her why, and let her know that you understand how stupid it was to cheat. Apologize, ask for forgiveness. If you feel like she lost respect for you, then ask her to not write a recommendation letter. In fact, you can say something along the lines of, "I don't want you to write my recommendation letter anymore. I've changed my mind because of this quiz. Although I don't think that it reflects me or my character, I'm afraid that you have a different view of me now."

just tell her you dont need her recommendation, drop her class

Take the hit. Really, you should know better. Tell her the dead-honest truth. TELL HER to give you an F. Atleast that way she knows that you have changed - and what you did was a one-time thing. Take your B and move forward.

Um if you're actually innocent and it really WAS a coincidence because you and your friend studied together, fight to the death. If that was some BS excuse you made up, plead guilty and move on.

I can't believe you cheated in a class where you had asked a teacher for a recommendation.

You do realize that in college, if you are caught cheating you are usually thrown out on your ear...don't you?

I honestly don't know what to tell you. If you claim that you didn't do it and try to cover it up and the teacher sees through you, you'll just end up looking like an arrogant, punk kid and they will probably write a less than favorable evaluation for you.

I suppose your only option is the fess up - be honest and what happens, happens. That's life.

lol don't worry in my school last year there was this kid that got accepted into columbia and he would cheat on the french quiz's everyday since we have one everyday, think about it a person that cheated in his classes lets say in college and the same guy is performing surgery on your mother a few years later, moreover hes gonna remember the mc letters lol, but hes not gonna remember the answers exactly to certain problems

if i were you id just admit it and pray ur teacher has mercy. if you tell him that you're honestly sorry, offer to take the B, and promise not to do it again, he may even take out the referral and act like nothing ever happened.

will the cheating on your transcript make a big difference in the college admissions process? i mean, how bad could it hurt you if you're a top student AND person otherwise??

If you decide to confess to cheating, please tell your friend first so you don't leave him insisting you guys studied together while you are telling the teacher you shared answers during the test.

Yes, the cheating could look bad on his transcript. The colleges would justifiably wonder whether his good grades were due to cheating. It's highly unlikely that a student gets caught cheating the only time that they do it.

Nature finds a way. I'm glad you got caught cheating and anyone who cheats like that doesn't deserve to go to college at all.

Get real brosfam...

Why "get real"?

He was dumb enough to cheat in the first place. On top of that, he betrayed the person he chose to do his recommendation.

How is cheating AT ALL acceptable?

calm down. one mistake def. does not mean no college

If you get caught cheating once, there's a good chance it's not the only time you've cheated.

just admit it =)

Honestly, I think you should have known NOT TO SHARE YOUR ANSWERS. Being in college and all. However, you should definitely admit it. Else it's going to get reported to the university... people that deal with cheating.

NOOB....i never get caught

but ye, just confess and plead for forgiveness, and say you've learned your lesson....I might ask a different teacher for a rec after that though....but she might have told other members of her faculty already
