I got deferred from my safety school.

Yes, I will try Georgia Tech. It does have a higher acceptance rate than UGA.

really??
I though UGA had a much higher acceptance rate. I should recheck that.

And i read your other thread. Ur SAT and GPA qualifies you for TECH (if i remember correctly). IDK why you were not accepted to UGA.

Wat wer ur grades/stats again?

I got deferred from UGA too. btw, they don't have mediocre academics, they are #20 on the U.S. News list.

and UGA does accept a smaller % than tech, but thats because they get many more applicants.

I'd definitely look at Tech, the only con about it is that its very tech based, so if thats not what ur into, then you won't like it.

A respectable safe school IMO would be Auburn. If some1 made a ratio of prestige:ease of admission, they be near the top. Some1 up a few posts said GA Southern, I wouldn't check that because it has a reputation for churning out alcoholics and the sexually infected as opposed to graduates.

Actually, UGA is ranked #58 if you are looking at the National Universities Rankings List.

(Tech is ranked #35 but is actually better than that.)

true, my parents have been going crazy about $$$ and public-only that all I've really been looking at is the public list.

Definitely look at Tech... I got deferred from UGA (it was a match for me, not a safety, though) as well. My college counselors have said that UGA deferred a lot this year because they had a HUGE increase in EA apps because of the state of the economy. That is probably the reason, not because you weren't qualified. Make sure you put a lot of effort into your UGA essays because honestly HOPE is one of the best deals around. There is a reason UGA's 25-75 SAT and ACT ranges have shot up in the past 10 years. Tons of smart kids stay home (I say this as someone that goes to a top private school in Atlanta -- even the rich smart kids stay home :P). Look at Tech, maybe State. Other than that there aren't really any decent choices in state.

South Carolina and Auburn might be good places to look at... College of Charleston Honors? If you need any other ideas PM me, we are in the same state.

Same thing happened to my son last year at Indiana. He got in every place else. Like others have mentioned, state schools are very unpredictable, especially this year, because of the economy. Find a couple more schools and that you could consider safeties.
