What does this mean??

my application was only complete for one week before I got this letter

that is strange. i have a slightly lower SAT and a slightly higher gpa, and i got about 14K in a "preferred scholarship". i didnt ask for financial aid either...

then i guess its because i am a international student and i also did not ask for financial aid..... but the weird thing is my sister is a international student and she got a dean scholarship.... i guess they just hate me :(

I thought that Santa Clara did EA...those letters were sent in December, and RD...those letters do not go out until April. Under what application process did you get accepted now? Re: the finaid, my DD's SATs were a bit lower, her GPA about the same. She didn't get any merit aid either. She was quite disappointed, but she still wants to go there...it's her top choice.

I did RD.. they have rolling admissions I guess.

what is the title of your scholarship? is it just called preffered scholarship?

I did RD.. they have rolling admissions I guess.>>

NO they do not have rolling admissions....they have EA and RD...and that is it, or at least that is all they have on their website. At one time they had a special application whereby you heard in a shortened amount of time, but I didn't think they had that this year. Did you have that?? It had a special name...but I can't think of it right now....

"When the admission committee has reached a decision on your application, we will notify you in writing. We send decision letters on a rolling basis as admission decisions are being made. All decision letters will be mailed by the first week of April. You might not hear anything from us until Aprilbe patient and dont panic!"

I guess they do have rolling admissions..
heres the link..

Also I was thinking maybe they havent decided the scholarships yet because they haven't reviewed all the applications so how do they know who is the top students for the Dean's Scholarship.

Thanks for that link. My mistake. I thought they were a "deadline school". My DD received an estimated finaid award about a month after her acceptance. We had already completed the Profile, and the estimated FAFSA. She did receive an SCU grant, but not any merit aid. Our understanding was that her full finaid estimate was included in the letter she received. You could call them and ask. Were you accepted with distinction? Those accepted with distinction, I would guess, would be the ones most likely to receive merit aid.

Wait, that means I have no idea when I'm going to find out about SCU. Great. Just great.

If I sent in my senior first semester grade now do you think it would change anything? it raises my gpa a little higher to like 8.2 or sump.. any thoughts? I wasn't admitted with distinction

ya, it was just called "preferred scholarship".

How do you apply for scholarships?

well the one i got, and most others given by the school i believe, you dont apply for. they just give it to you.

Oh no! I did not realize SCU admitted students on a rolling basis. I can't forget that I didn't learn about THAT little (or rather, huge) detail. Unbelievable.

My Official Test Scores had been sent in November, but was marked as 'Incomplete' because of a mistake by the Admission Office. I just called TODAY to let them know about it. I should've contacted them earlier - I probably would be in by now!

:(

actually NHS, it's unusual for Santa Clara acceptees to hear from SC in February. Usually it's in March or April, so it's not necessarily true that you would've gotten in by now.

Judge is an international student, and usually international students hear earlier than domestic students (an international student from my school has already heard from a couple of reg dec schools). Congrats Judge =)

Here's info about Santa Clara merit aid.

Santa Clara currently awards merit scholarship funds to students selected from our "Admitted with Distinction" pool. Presidential Scholars at Entrance (10 full tuition awards), Provost Scholars (40 half-tuition awards), and Dean's Scholarships ($6,000; $8,000; or $10,000 awards to roughly the top 15% of admitted students) are available. Additional awards are made from the University Honors Program, Jesuit High School Merit Scholarship, ROTC, and National Merit Scholarship programs.

Oh, thanks a lot for that link, very helpful!
