Got into Wharton ED. So I withdrew all my other apps and I paid the enrollment fee. What is the next steps?
Sit back and relax, choose housing options, and live ur life!
I think we basically wait for RD to finish now. Did you look at the Penn10 thing they had on the website? It’s a list of 10 things we’re supposed to do before coming to campus, but a lot of it can’t be done until the spring, when the class is completed.
Don’t miss accepted student activities. Penn does a great job if you can go!
Also if you live near a city you can organize meet-ups on the class fb page. The transfers did that, and it was 1) fun and 2) easier considering there were only like 200 of us, as opposed to a full 2000 person class. It would probably be the same for ED people.
PS CONGRATS Penn is so amazing!! Welcome to the fam
Now you get to enjoy the rest of your senior year in peace! Don’t ignore your grades though, because you will be required to send in a mid-year and final report (in other words, they’ll see all your senior year grades). You have room to take it easy, but don’t be getting C’s or D’s- they can rescind applications based on this.
If you want to learn more about and talk with your future peers, join us on the Penn 2020 facebook page (link should be in your applicant portal). There’s also a Wharton 2020 page, so check that out too. Housing enrollment comes out in April (I think), and connectEDQuaker day is in February for ED admits!
In other words: ENJOY the rest of your senior year!
@thetester123 Penn actually doesn’t require a mid-year report for ED accepted kids, only a final report. But I agree about senior year grades – try to keep A’s and B’s.
@BabylonBabylon I am projecting to get 3-4 Bs a semester, but I’ve never gotten a B before. Should I be concerned?
@Austen2 Probably not a reason to be concerned. I mean, obviously I’m not an admissions officer so I don’t know exactly what would lead to a rescind (I’m in the same boat as you, looking at a couple B’s this term), but a school doesn’t want to get the reputation that they rescind kids for minor things like B’s, especially if you have a rigorous schedule. If you’re super worried, email your regional counselor.
@BabylonBabylon true. What’s your opinion on the dorms? I was there this summer and the ones in the Quad were really but they were upgrading some of them I think.
@Austen2 I’ve actually never visited campus because I live so far away (maybe it wasn’t a good idea to apply ED without visiting but eh, I hear campus is nice haha). I’m visiting this spring, but I saw the Housing Brochure online and right now Gregory House is my favorite. But really all the houses look nice, and I think Penn has done a lot in the past few years to make them look really nice. I know a lot of people insist on living in the Quad and obviously that’d be nice but I’ll settle for anything as long as I’m at Penn.
Do they not have an accepted students day for you guys? Quaker Days is only for RD accepted students now, but I’m pretty sure last year they had some day in January where all the ED accepted students were invited. When I applied, there were Penn Preview Days, but regardless of what they call it, I’d go to that if you guys have some similar event on campus.
Freshman dorms are not Penn’s claim to fame lol however I believe the brand new dorm on Hill field is slated to be complete for the fall of 2016. That should save you all from having to live in the old Hill house. Everyone loves the Quad and the high rises are very nice but mostly for upperclassman
I think my son said there is an accepted ED student day in February and they said they will send this info out to all…
There is a checklist online; and there will be a paper copy sent home with your acceptance letter of what to do next. Congrats! I’ll see you next year
Congrats! Wharton is amazing!
Enjoy your last few months of high school, slack off (a little), rest, relax, and have fun.
You won’t get access to your wharton email and your cohort until June which is a lot later than the College kids but don’t worry about that.
I live in Ware in the Quad, all the houses in the quad are pretty similar and it’s definitely an amazing place to live I’d say the worst part are the bathrooms since they are communal but they aren’t terrible, there’s always stuff going on and there’s also house activities for example we went to a screening for the Hunger Games Part 2. Next year though they’re opening the New College House and closing Hill for renovations and the dorms there look awesome there so you might wanna look into that although you won’t choose housing until March or April (not sure).
They do check your Final Report so like everyone else has said try to maintain your grades but don’t worry about Bs.
First Semester everyone pretty much has the same classes: Management 100, Econ 10 (unless you place out), Math 110 or 104 (or Stat 101 if you place out of those), and then you can choose your last two one is usually a language (I took Portuguese) and the other a class in the college (I took Sociology 007 - Population and Society)
Like someone else mentioned there are usually admitted students receptions (at alumni or parents houses) where you live where you get to meet other Penn bound students, they are nice good chance to meet some of your first new friends
Decide on whether or not you want a roommate, if you do choose well, someone will probably make a facebook group where you can meet other potential roommates.
Let me know if you have any questions
Congratulations!!! Enjoy your senior year
