OK, ladies and gents, our count is up to 3!!!!!!! CCRunner, umichfreak, and now spudwebb (I love the handle by the way. I imagine you enjoyed that Nate Robinson dunk this year at the all-star competition. A sweet dunk WITH metaphorical value. A definite 50, but I digress>. CCRunner, you will find that in your college career, and in the rest of life, that exact attitude will pay off big. If you just make that extra effort, anything is possible, and I hope this encourages you to keep doing that at umich (it has gotten me really far here).

Alexandre, I'm sorry for ever doubting you, haha.

I applied to LSA and I found out via Wolverine Access.

Hey everyone I got off the waitlist as well, unfortunately I already submitted my deposit elsewhere. We will see about financial aid(no shot) and if that doesnt come through then I cant come. This process has made me really bitter.

can we still apply to honors college?

I'd like to know that as well. It's probably way too late though anyway.

Generally they'll inform you if they're considering you, but if you want, you could probably still send an e-mail to the head of honors (just go to the LSA honors site)

Congrats to those of you who got your notifications.

ryan, it's generally the case that every person who gets admitted from the waitlist has put in a deposit elsewhere. That's not just true at U-M but at most places that go to the waitlist (because it's not until sometime after May 1 that they have enough information to know they need to take some students off the WL). For some students, that will be a deciding factor--they can't afford to lose the other deposit, so they can't consider accepting the new offer. That's one of the problems with WL admissions.

I hope your financial aid questions can be answered promptly.

have to decide between Amherst and Michigan now...

def michigan...you'll get a lot more personal attention

Amherst and UM are REALLY differant places...what are you looking for in a college exactly?

I dunno, I guess good education...

I know they are different, and I like them both

I thought Amherst was the one that gives you "personal attention"

can someone bother to compare the two schools, like list pros and cons, and how they stack up on various aspects

here is what I am thinking right now

Michigan: better school spirit, social life, name-recognition, not very "elitist"
Amherst: individual attention, does great for law school admissions

i think the academics should be on par for both, so I have no idea what I am deciding based upon now...

Yea, i just got in off the waitlist too. I'm 95% sure im still headed to Cal, but i gotta give mich a chance now...

everyone's getting in!

I got in too but I'm already commited to USC. Congrats though CCRunner, I think we've met on the UMCP page.

That's 8 people admitted off the waitlist, 8 out-of-staters.

Why do I even pay taxes?

I didn't think of this before...but we really don't know what the ratio was between in state and out of state for people who were initially accepted. For all we know, a greater than normal proportion of in state people got initially accepted, and they're balancing it with the waitlist.

I've stated it in another thread--Michigan has enrollment goals designed to bring in a class made up of a certain number of residents and nonresidents, engineers and nurses, etc. Waitlist offers depend on those goals. If Nursing looks like it won't meet its nonresident goal, they'd take nonresident Nursing applicants off the waitlist (just an example).

For those admitted off the waitlist:

what were your stats?

check decisions thread for that...

i got of the waitlist too...no idea why...i didn't send in ANYTHING...strange.
