I Got Into GA TECH!!!!

I mean i though i’d get in, but man it’s a good feeling to get the acceptance package in the mail, you know?

I just feels good to know that no matter what, I’ll have atleast one place to go to for college.
Just a week or so until I find out if I was a semi-finalist for the presidential scholarship. That’s pretty exciting too.

You guys helped me out alot when I had questions about anything, so I must thank you.
Best of luck to all of you on your applications.

ah! I also applied there. I haven't received anything in my mail today. Not even a single letter. Very suspicious....

what were your stats?

Congratulations to you. I am quite sure this acceptance has taken a load off of your shoulders. More acceptances are comming . Continued good luck in the process

Congratulations :D

I applied before October 31st, which was the presidential scholarship deadline. I didn't even know they sent acceptances early, but apparently they do. I talked to my friends and they haven't gotten anything in the mail yet, but I figure the acceptances are on their way. I just got lucky by getting it first. You can check your status online too, i think. . .

ecnerwalc3321, my stats:
I'm a GA resident (helps)
SAT: 1460 (760 math, 700 verbal) <----they care more about math than verbal.
3.92 unweighted gpa
full IB diploma candidate, hardest courses in all areas (including IB Math Higher Level and AP calculus BC, again, tech likes to see math like that).

applied as undeclared engineering, but i think i'm changing to international affairs (in the case that I attend).

thanks again to all

neobiz-
I hope not to disappoint you, but I don't think your stats will be competitive for the presidential scholarship. But good luck.

Wow, you really applied early. Maybe I'll see mine soon. Congratulations!

jym626, I'm not disappointed. . . I'm a skeptic at heart, so I didn't think I was gonna be selected either. Regardless, it'll be nice to find out on the 15th.

Neo-
My s. applied last year-- and while he also rec'd his acceptance very early (around now) the Pres. Scholarship letter didn't come for several weeks thereafter. Gee, maybe I can hope that they were agonizing over the scholarship decision and waited til the last minute :) His stats were very strong (1570 SAT, 4.01 gpa- tho I never understood the weighted/unweighted thing, National Merit finalist, eagle scout, lots of AP's, EC's, was selected for a summer biology program at Tech after 10th grade, etc--). Anyway- to our dismay-- no Pres Scholarship. But no matter-- he fell in love with Rice and applied EA. Got the Rice acceptance a few days after the Tech envelope, which proudly announces on the outside "Congratulations- you are a yellow Jacket!" Kinda kills the suspense.... Rice sent a diploma looking thing- that was cool.

That's kinda hard to believe that he didn't get the scholarship. . .

And yeah, my app. envelope said "Acceptance Enclosed" on the Front. It does kill the suspense, doesn't it?

How does he like it at a Rice (I assume that's where he is now)?
What's he studying?

He LOVES Rice -- we visited 13 schools last year-- northeast, Calif, etc- and nothing felt like a perfect fit until Rice. He is going to major in applied or engineering physics. Way over my head.

Congratulations, Neobez!

Congrats! I would be thrilllllllllllllllllled!

Neo--
I apologize for not congratulating you. Sorry!!! Where else are you waiting to hear from?? Where in GA are You???

congratulations!

13 schools!?

Holy crap! Are you extremely rich, obsessed or both?

Andrew-
Well..... I'd say a bit more of the latter than the former-- he didn't apply to 13 schools-- we just visited 13. Two trips to the NE, one to California (actually took that as a side trip from a family reunion in Arizona), one to Texas, and the local school (Tech). Fortunately we have a great discount airline that flies out of Atlanta, which made it do-able. My s. had a lot of criteria he wanted to find, if possible, in a college, and he was looking at the top tier schools. He was detail-oriented (obsessive-- not obsessed). So we did one trip up north (NE) to see 5 schools spring of his jr yr., the trip to CA in the summer covered 2, to Texas covered 1, and the second trip to the NE fall of sr yr. covered 4. I should add that my family is in NY, so college trips were connected with visits, and the "visit" to Columbia was pretty much blown off because he didn't want to go to school in NYC. So, with cheap airline tickets and good deals on rental cars, it was not that $$$$$. A lotta work, though....

still nothing for me. When did you say taht the decisions normally come out?
