I got into my first choice school (TCNJ, 48% acceptance rate). I was a solid B student, took only 3 APs, got a 1390 SAT, only took two years of a foreign language and was in College Prep math all four years. I had a lot of ECs, but it’s not like I did medical research or anything. I also wrote my essay on something extremely controversial, because it was the only thing I felt passionate about. So, I don’t know how, but I got in!!! I must have done something right?
Anyways, now I wish I could take back all the time I spent feeling like no college would accept me. Because my grades were poor, because my classes were all wrong, etc. etc. But I got into my first choice school! and I wouldn’t have wanted to go anyplace else.
So…thanks for accepting me TCNJ!!! I’m really excited to go!!
Congrats! Thanks for posting this because there are lot more kids with your stats than the really high ones with 10+ AP’s that you see here on CC. Good students can go to a great college! Students need to know this.
Plan to work hard there, keep ahead in homework and seek out help if you need it. Congratulations and thanks for letting us know. I often wonder where students end up after reading about their university search. This sounds like a great opportunity for you at a terrific school!
Congratulations!
My dd got in last year and was also surprised since she had only one AP class and low 1300 SATs. I think these boards skew our preceptions of what is “average.”
