Congrats. Good job.

Congrats!! Are you planning to attend?

Was this the early write, or was this an actual acceptance? I have a feeling it was an early, since you're in washington and it probably took a while to get there. In any event, congrats.

Congrats NickZhao!

"Was this the early write, or was this an actual acceptance?"
Isn't that kind of like asking, "Are you breathing, or are you alive?"

No, it's like asking "was this an early write saying 'in a week you'll be getting your full acceptance package, but here's a heads up', or was this the full fledged letter, meaning they've sent out all decisions so everyone else should be hearing".

I have already gotten my packet as well.

It is a full 'package', enclosed in a light gray folder.

Congrats! What's the postmarked date on it?

The date is: March 16.

yup i got my full package too! light gray folder. it was really early. i was so surprised. is bowdoin anyone's first choice?

Bowdoin is my first choice. 3.45 GPA, with 3.7 junior year. A plethora of extra cirriculars, and I live in nyc (+ art supp). I was defered ED, so I decieded to drive up by myself (350miles each way). I stayed over night, met two professors (who were very nice and extremely intelligent) and caught up with my original interviewer. I also visited Colby and bates. Bates was very nice. I have received a rejection letter from Colby.

My overnight visit confirmed everything I would hope a college could be.
I have been caught dead out of luck lately with a series of extremly rare, and extremly unfortunate events. The past three weeks have been quite rough on me (and my school for that matter)...I just hope I get good news soon. I was thinking about having my headmaster write a recomendation, but I guess it is way to late for that now.

Bowdoin is athletic oriented... i think about 60% of people play a sport. However, it is most certaintly very intellectual :)

Good luck though.. it seems as if you've thoroughly researched your options. I'm waiting on Bowdoin also and it is one of my top 2 schools (Duke being the other).

Neal-
Best of luck with Bowdoin and Bates--I was rejected from Colby as well--Colby has a higher acceptance rate than Bowdoin--Bowdoin is ranked much higher than both Colby and Bates. It's interesting that you're counting on them to back you up--but best of luck to you, I hope things work out.

hope things work out for all of you. just remember that college is what you make of it, and in the end, it doesn't really matter where you go but what you make of it.

thanks guys and/or girls. Hopefully I can plod through the diffucult times that have reigned over me

Rejected

oy, this is tough.

Luckily, I was accepted to Bates...even though I did not take an interview or campus tour. Ironically enough, my Bowdoin interviewer was a alumni of Bates. I applied to four colleges (all three maines and allegheney), and was rejected by Bowdoin and Colby (I did not like Colby anyways).

I feel kid of apathetic. For two years I just dreamed about receiving that Bowdoin window decal etc. I was expecting it to be much worst...getting rejected by all Maine schools. I thought it was over when I recieved my Bowdoin letter...I didnt notice the big fat Bates envelope untill fifteen minutes later.

Its not that I was rejected from Bowdoin that makes me feel this way, there is many factors, letting down my family and teachers is kind of one of them. They became all "excited" when they heard that I got into Bates, and give me this sort of banal congratulations (even though they probably dont know where or what bates is). I like Bates very much...its just that when my headmaster said "Bates...is a very nice school" he had his eyes shut. That kind of hurt me.

They all seem happy, but I could see right threw that...I wish I couldn't.

The biggest thing that ticks me off is that I was accepted without an interview or official campus tour. Why does this irratate me? I feel that some kid, who put Bates on the top of his list, like how I placed Bowdoin , drove for god only knows how long, to stay over night, meet professors, and have a lenghty interview all while manuevering all this around his own hectic schedual, could have been rejected...and in turn, a complete stranger, like I, was accepted...

I honestly believe, even if its at my own lost, that it should have been the other way around...I mean, what does this say about the school itself?

Anyways, in the end like my headmaster says "there is no ryhme or reason".
I guess I have to just go with the tide now...

You know what I think it was...my essays where written in Arial Narrow, and not Times New Roman font, which I like better anyways. Yea, thats what it is.

Anyways thanks for all the help and support! I am still looking for my Bowdoin Interviewers Email...his name, Scott Steinberg is not on the website directory. I just wanted to thank him for his help. There is no reason to become strangers after such a situation.
