I got my fat envelope!

I got my fat envelope in the mail today! The letter inside was dated 3/18, and the offer for a presidential scholarship was dated 3/13. Union mailed it on 3/19.

Good luck, the letter should be in your mailbox soon.

And, for anyone in doubt:

Dear Coopjust,
The answer is yes, a resounding yes. The admissions committee has approved your application
for admission to Union College! Coopjust, welcome to membership in Union's class of 2012!
The committee was impressed by your application and the academic and personal talents you
bring. We have every confidence that you will find Union offers even more than you expect; it is an
exciting environment in which to learn. In turn, we rely on you to be a contributing member of our
college community.
To reserve your place in our Class of 2012, you will need to return the enclosed form and your
$500 non-refundable deposit by May 1. Your deposit can be paid on line at http://www.union.edu/deposit. We
will credit $200 toward your fall orientation, $200 will be held on deposit by the College until graduation
or withdrawal after one year of attendance (according to the procedures outlined in the Academic
Register) and the remaining $100 will be held in an incidental escrow.
Your enrollment is conditional upon your successful completion of subjects taken during your
senior year. Please keep studying and learning.
Do consider our invitation to visit during the month of April. We welcome you to meet faculty
and learn more about your intended field of study, to connect with students and learn more about the joys
of daily life at Union and to appreciate the beauty of our campus and the resources of the surrounding
area.
Again, my warmest congratulations. We are delighted to include you as a member of Union's
next class!
With best wishes,
Ann Fleming Brown
Interim Dean of Admissions/Financial Aid

Yay! I got accepted! Did anyone's letter have an added "Wonderful" in Ann Fleming Brown's handwriting? ^_^

My twin brother and I both had "Wonderful!" written on there but comparing the two, she actually signed it- it's not an autopen.

Congratulations to all above!!! Where do you all live? My daughter is waiting to hear and we're in the Midwest, so I'm thinking we'll probably hear on Sat. or maybe even Mon.

I live in Rhode Island. :)

I live not too far from Union...not within an hour but not far at all.

If you really want to find out, go here and substitute your zip code in. It'll give you a mail transit time estimate (ignore prices, just look at the ship time for first class large envelope).

so they just send mails..not emails right? God i'm an international and it'll take forever to receive that...

Well, for internationals colleges will usually email or priority mail. I'm not sure what Union does, but you could try calling the admissions office.

Why on the wesbesite, front page they say the application decisions will be mailed out ON March 25? Did you all above apply for special scholarships and you find out a little early or do you think that they just maila the decisions out randomly at different times but all by the 25th?
Thanks Coopjust for the postal info

Oh, one really wierd thing that happened, and kind of stinky:( This past Monday, my daughter receives a BIG FAT ENVELOPE that reads "It's all about Union" on the outside. Of course we're all thinking this is an acceptance letter. Even the first line of the letter starts of like"We are pleased to inform you that"... we have received all of you information and your file is complete. Is this not wacked or what? Did anyone else have this experience? The letter was dated as Feb, 2008 and it was postmarked March 18. Does this seem like a mistake or does it seem as if my daughter was all along in the rejection pool? Oh well, c'est la vie!

S. was accepted with the presidential scholarship. In viewing the threads for the other schools to which he has applied, I see a pattern: A small number of people receive acceptances 2-4 weeks before Apr 1, many with good merit awards. Perhaps these are the top of the pool and the college wants to give them additional time to make travel plans for the accepted students events. It's nice when you hear in this first 'cut' but very frustrating when you don't make that same cut in another school you're hoping for. Lots of waiting... not easy! Good luck to all.

@gggr8bllsofire24

They might be doing batches of mailing, hopefully doing the last batch no later than 3/25. Or they might be out early (RPI moved up their released date too).

Also, I only got a postcard for application complete.

@likes2draw

Maybe. We'll see. Lafayette did the same thing with their Marquis Scholars, and RIT did the same with their presedential scholars. But most schools are inform BY April 1st, they want you to have your decision by then so you have a month to decide.

got my acceptance today!!! it says march 25 at the top of it, and its only the 21st. and i am being considered for the scholars program or something like that

i agree with likes2draw, i got a nice scholarship to union

My s got his acceptance letter and fa package in the mail today. We live in PA.

PA before CT??? not cool.

They gave me a LOT of money, but there's still about $7,000 gap between what my parents can actually afford and the amount of need they actually met. Hopefully I get accepted to the CT scholars program...that will help a LOT. :D

Westchester, still haven't heard, these waves are annoying

Wait, I live in Manhattan... still havent heard?!
