This is just for general questions about financial aid.
My questions… I would appreciate if someone could help me out. One of my schools got back to me today with their financial aid decision. It lists two columns: one that sums to substantially more but includes loans. It is called ‘Offered’. The other includes only my merit based scholarship and is title ‘accepted’. What is the difference between offered and accepted financial aid? There is only one ‘accept’ button and I definitely do not want to accidentally commit myself to a loan at this time.
You should be able to accept or decline each individual portion of the financial aid package. The merit scholarship is probably set to ‘accepted’ by default, since nobody would turn that down. You don’t need to take out loans (if you don’t want to) as a condition of receiving the merit scholarship.
