I got robbed in Berkeley today..-_-

And Berkeley stole my dignity.

Don't walk alone near People's Park at night. Just avoid it. Bums in general will not harm you. They're just lonely and desperate for beer. People who you should avoid are Berkeley High students. They're dumb and obnoxious teenagers who do not know the consequences of their actions. As such, a lot of the crimes (theft, robbery, armed robbery) are committed by these high school students.

Well said tastybeef, i was robbed right in front of Berkeley High..he's suspected to be a student there..right across from the park..

Did anyone pay attention to the guy that was talking about USC?

Talk about a scary ass place.
I wouldn't even venture near a corner of that campus at night.

Isn't it in Inglewood?

To quote Snoop Dogg, "Southside, Inglewood!"

Straight UP.

Haha, I once stayed in a Ramada Inn in Inglewood --something happened when booking the reservations online for the LAX Ramada, and it knocked my reservation to Inglewood.

That was an interesting night.

theres a ramada in inglewood? i used to live in inglewood and i never saw a ramada...

ps. usc is not inglewood, its south central LA

p.s.s. theres no ramada in LAX either, theres one on el segundo though

Yea, I meant the one El Segundo, and I am pretty sure there is one in Inglewood.

Edit: googled it, the address is: 4300 W. Century/I-405 Inglewood, CA, 90304 US for the one in Inglewood.

It's not bums robbing you when you attend Berkeley, its the high school kids from Oakland and Berkeley high school that are doing it

yeah i live in inglewood and i have seen one. btw yeah there are barely any bums in westwood so you cant make a comparison and rchang your a clown haha. your not even from la and you get so defensive its just a forum chill out

"Did anyone pay attention to the guy that was talking about USC?

im that guy. i did not walk around usc at night, but i drove around past midnight. pretty scary regardless. normally i drive around w/ my windows rolled down and i made sure i didnt do that here.

lol. I work @ Ackerman (UCLA's student union) @ the UCLA Store. There are quite a few "regulars" that come by. There's one bum that smells soooo bad. You can literally smell him coming from farrrr away. There's another lady who is afraid of guys, and always carries an umbrella to 'block' guys from her view and sometimes she chases them away with the umbrella. hahaha

They are harmless though, at least the ones that come to Ackerman...although the smelly one has been banned several times before, I heard it was because he got into arguments w/ customers

In Westwood, there are not exactly 'hardly any,' I'd say quite a few? But still not too many

yeah haha im just saying bums are bums. every city has them and maybe cause im used to them, i dont really think there are that many in westwood or at least compared to the city

usc = university of south compton /south central...

lulz

Yeah I'm from Inglewood as well (INGLEWOOOOOOD). USC area is filled with wannabe thugs that are desperate for money.

Bums never do anything they just ask for money or talk to themselves. If you get beat up by a bum, well, that's just shameful.

I got pocket checked near USC in broad daylight too. Best part was that it was at a busy street and the whole time not one person passed by (which I'm sure they would have just kept walking, shady people). They panicked and just took off.

Gotta love those phone checks at south central too!

Have you guys never seen homeless people before? Welcome to the real world - they do exists. Just because they are homeless doesn't mean they are thieves. Aside from gaining an education from Berkeley, perhaps it will be a valuable learning experience for you. It's no wonder they look for a diverse student body...

Berkeley shares a border with Oakland, which has a high crime rate. Just get familiar with the area and have street smarts. Berkeley is very beautiful and there is a great community there. I wouldn't judge it by the experiences you heard about. It can happen anywhere, but if you really want to avoid situations like this your whole life, you might as well stick to an area like...Orange County.

lol...i have seen that one everyday and i never knew it was a ramada... i assumed it was some cheap hooker hotel. I wouldnt have stayed at the ramada in el segundo either cuz the hotel is RIGHT NEXT to the freeway.

Well said laurenr. I've met some pretty interesting homeless people.

The "crazy" ones are usually on the street because their mental institution was closed due to a lack of funds. Many of them really are victims.
