<p>I don't get why school staff have to be such jerks.</p>

<p>^ It was so dumb.</p>
<p>I was staying after school to work on a physics project with 2 partners in the computer lab. We were only allowed to use one computer, and we were waiting patiently for a media file to convert, so we had nothing to do. Well, not knowing it is apparently “unacceptable,” went onto yahoo and checked my email. </p>
<p>Sure enough, the librarian came over and said “Sir, you can’t check your email on school grounds.” I was very polite and said “oh, sorry, we’re just waiting for a media conversion to finish up.” She got mad and said “I don’t really care what you’re doing, I said to get off yahoo.” I angrily clicked out of it and turned away from her, and then she yelled “I’m watching you guys” and I said “Thanks mom” back. My group and I laughed, she came marching over, and we all got written up and I got sent to the office and was given suspension forms. Apparently I would’ve only gotten a detention if I didn’t make that last comment.</p>
<p>But still. My parents aren’t even mad. The librarian was a *itch and obviously shouldn’t be working with teenagers.</p>

<p>That was rude and you deserved it. She works with teenagers all day and you don’t even consider the fact that the last thing she wants is to be mouthed off to? How about you grow the hell up and start acting professional and like you’re an adult. </p>
<p>You should’ve gotten more than a week, or if it were up to me: expelled. I can’t stand my peers who can’t be freaking mature and grown up.</p>

<p>I’ve only gotten in trouble once and I got suspended off of the bus. I was only 7 and it wasn’t my fault =/ but then the principal said she would erase it, because I hadn’t gotten in trouble before :)</p>

<p>^ I know, I know… I’m major regretting it now. And it’s not like I have a “record”… I’ve never had a detention in my life and I get in trouble at school VERY rarely.</p>

<p>at my hs that wouldn’t have got anything… as long as you dont pull a knife on anyone or smoke pot during class (lunch periods are fine) you’re good to go.</p>

<p>I’m sorry your parents weren’t mad about this. They should have been. I understand the librarian was mad but when everyone calmed down they should have realized that a suspension was overreacting.</p>
<p>My son was suspended from school and the principal was in touch with me personally. She very calmly explained what happened, she was very nice about it and I totally agreed with the suspension.</p>
<p>I don’t understand if this will go on your record. If it doesn’t then the colleges you have been accepted to won’t find out about it and you won’t have to worry about any acceptances being rescinded.</p>
<p>If it makes you feel any better, it’s a stupid rule. We use yahoo in school pretty often for projects, etc. It’s especially stupid if it was after school. Tough luck man. Now you have a week with nothing to do though…</p>

<p>This is ridiculous…I understand that going on Yahoo was a rule, whether or not you knew that at the time. However, breaking such a rule isn’t worth a detention at any high school I know of. Even if it was, one would suffice. </p>
<p>A week of detention is outrageous.</p>
<p>A suspension is insane, and someone should have a look into your school’s administrative faculty and their policies.</p>
