They let us do tat at school too, but we couldn’t chat with our friends[though we did it anyway]

Your school’s kinda weird, why wouldn’t they let you guys use yahoo. You guys need to login to your email to open school files. And you seriously shouldn’t have been suspended if you got a clean record. Detention is enough for just showing a tiny bit of disrespect towards adult.

That is why I wish your parents had pursued this. I don’t know if the school can suspend someone over something like this, they might not be able to. There are rules surrounding the issuance of a suspension.

I feel bad for your friends who got written up as well.

Anyways, you have a suspension and you can’t do anything about it. Take a vacation.

To the person who said OP was rude: No, so what if she has to deal with teenagers all day. That’s her job, she’s not entitled to blow up and ***** off when she feels like it.

to OP: Perhaps you should talk to some kind of teacher or official who could help you. That is completely unfair and I don’t think there’s grounds for suspension at all.

I mean seriously, it only started because she got ****y even after you POLITELY explained your situation.

that’s pretty lame. don’t listen to HotIvy though. his/her only friend is probably a librarian.

Since the issue doesn’t involve ethical issues or the honor code, I would bring my parents to the school’s office and try to talk it over with the Principal or the administration…

Say that it wasn’t necessary for her to get mad at you right away and that you were rude because you were having a bad day or something (they might tell you that you can’t be rude whenever you are having a bad day, then again, you can tell them that the librarian can’t be rude to you either)

suspension does seem a tad excessive

That rule is ridiculous. Getting suspended for it is even worse. At my school, you don’t get suspended except for stuff like physical violence, smoking, or stealing stuff. (I think it applies to drinking too, but nobody’s been caught drinking at school while I was here.) Isn’t there a definitive list of rules, like what types of offenses lead to what types of punishments? If there is, you should consult it and contest the suspension. It just seems excessive to me.

Get your parents to contest it. Maybe start up a s***storm

^I used to think you were the quiet, akward, cute, and nerdy one…lol I was wayyyyyyyy offf

Yes, but do protest it.

…Bs. And for the person who said he “deserves this,” I totally rest my case…I don’t even know what to reply to that.

I stand by what I said, if you’re going to talk back at least be creative. Lame and stale comments aren’t good for anyone.

My school doesn’t allow email use either, but it seems to me like they care less about what you do on the computers if its after school/no one is waiting for computers to finish a project due next bell. I snuck onto Yahoo today though, since I was there after school and I needed to check my email to see if I had/respond to an email about an internship interview.

I think full scale suspension, especially for a week, is a bit much. In school suspension or Friday schools (longer detentions, on Fridays, so less desirable) would have been more appropriate.

Haha trumpet I am around people I don’t know that well sometimes, but definitely not around those I know well. I hope I’m still cute though :p

You better not get suspended. The school shouldn’t be able to change the trajectory of your life over one minor sarcastic remark. The consequences of their punishment completely outweighs the crime.

Librarians are employed to work with the public, including teenagers, but not to put up with rude comments like that. A rule is a rule, and the librarian was just doing her job to enforce it. What gives you (and by ‘you’ I mean all teenagers, including myself) the right to speak to a librarian, teacher, or any other adult at school in such a demeaning way? What ever happened to respect for authority?

Also trumpet, I’m much more loudmouthed online lol.

OP’s remark warrants maybe a day or two in lunch detention, not a week of suspension. He didn’t even swear or insult or threaten. The librarian just has sand in her vag. OP did not seem that rude to me

Well OP, you won’t get rescinded from MSU for that. No worries :D.

The library people are much nicer here than that. In fact, I spent the majority of the day with the ladies at the library trying to find things in the basement. They’re sweet people.
