I guess this means my son was offered a branch campus?

My son checked his application status today and under the usual status for Pitt is says, “application is complete.” However, today a second application status popped up underneath for UP-Johnstown. It says “this application is incomplete” and it has today as the application date. However, my son didn’t apply to UPJ. It has a different application number and today’s date on it.

This is a reach for him, so it came as no surprise that he was being offered a branch campus. It does seem like an odd way to do it though. He went back and checked his email to see if he had received any notification from Pitt about it, but nothing. So, just a heads up to those who think you may be a borderline applicant…keep your eyes peeled for the extra admission status.

Best of luck to everyone at Pitt! It is a wonderful school! My son has been accepted to Temple and will probably be there in the fall.

BlueHen89, congrats to your son on his acceptance at Temple! I can’t answer your question about Pitt, bit I was wondering…when did he apply?

He applied 9/20 and his application was marked complete on 9/26. The message popped up today.

Thank you!

Hi BlueHen89- what was the timeline for the Temple acceptance. My DS applied there also. Thanks

He applied to Temple mid-August and his application was marked complete on 8/25. He was admitted yesterday.

@BlueHen89 and others,

We do not intend for my.pitt.edu to provide notification of an admissions decision, it simply contains information about the status of an application (if we are missing any items, etc). For the final word on admissions decisions, you will receive an email or letter from our office.

All the best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

When your son applied did it ask for an order of preference for an alternate campus? Did your son list UPJ as first choice after main campus?

He only applied to main campus and did not list alternatives. He is not interested in a branch campus, as he would prefer to attend Temple.
