Hey guys! I recently applied to Penn State which is my #1 school choice. I'm also a double legacy. Anyway, something weird happened with the application status changes and I was curious if anyone had experience with this. On Thursday morning I awoke to my status reading: "We have completed our review of your application and are ready to make you an offer of admission. We will process your transfer coursework and make a formal offer, including an evaluation of all transferable credits, in the very near future. Congratulations!" Naturally, I was ecstatic. I screen shot it and showed it to family. Anyway, Saturday morning I checked it again for fun and it seems to revert back to a processing status. Today, Saturday, it now shows this: "We are in the final stages of review and an admissions decision will be posted here in the coming days." My stomach sunk. This seems to be a reversal of the first status message.

Has anyone had experience with this? Thank you for your help!

I know you’re probably really anxious, but I honestly think this status change is the very last one for everybody…it happens right before an admission offer… You should hear very soon… Don’t worry.

I’ve never heard of or seen the first status you had. What I can tell you is, though, is that I received the “We are in the final stages…” status a night before I received my admission decision.

Are you a transfer student? If not, the first message would seem to be in error. But, the coming days status is good! That means a decision is forthcoming. Also, its not fullproof, but in general, if your picture on your status page remains UP campus, you ate likely in UP. If it changes to information for a branch you have likely been placed in a branch, and if it reverts to the nittany lion and you didn’t put a branch back up you may have been denied. Again, the picture is not fullproof, but has been the experience of many in prior years.
Good luck!! You should know any day now, and my guess is you got in.

My son’s status changed to “in the coming days” sometime Friday night (picture remains UP), so that likely means he won’t hear anything until Monday. He has very good stats and I assume the status change is a good sign. My question is whether anyone actually gets rejected this early in the process. I haven’t heard anyone say they have been rejected or even wait listed at this point, and it seems if you’re on the bubble they’d wait until January or so before actually rejecting you. Just curious.

Just changed to “coming days” status tonight. The picture still shows University Park, so does that mean I’m definitely in? My first choice was UP, but I chose Altoona as a backup.

My stats were decent, but not off the charts, so I’m pleasantly surprised that I’ll be hearing back before January. I applied 9/7.

From what others have posted, if you were getting Altoona, the picture would have changed to that along with the “coming days” status. I think that you got the “coming days” status is good news. My sons stats were good, but not off the charts either, and he was accepted tonight. He applied 9/8.
