@mom2collegekids just for the first year, I just needed to renew FAFSA. I already checked and they received all financial info needed from me and my need was determined to be the same.
Update- A couple of the counselors said that the rest of my scholarship money might just be delayed/posted later. Hopefully this is the case. They said they’d get back to me one or two days from now.
Solved! They just updated my financial aid, and it is now the same as it was Freshman year. There was a delay for some reason in the posting of part of my scholarships. Life is good now.
Hurray! A lot of people have been worrying about you!
@macncheeseisgood thanks for updating, glad everything has been resolved.
I recall that you posted that you have a sibling in college this year. Keep in mind that your (or your sibling’s) efc would have a big jump when there is only one of you enrolled in college full time, even if family finances are otherwise unchanged. Perhaps this situation is not a problem for your family, depending on whether merit aid exceeds efc, or if you have additional siblings who will be starting college, etc.
There is another recent thread here on CC, posted by a mom who did not plan for her son’s sudden doubling of efc when a sibling graduated. Mom is scrambling to come up with $$ to fill the gap and not have to force her son to transfer.
It is important to consider how to pay for all 4 years of college, especially when there is overlap of siblings attending. Running the NPCs for different scenarios can help prevent a financial nightmare down the road, and can help guide decisions about targeting need or merit based aid when applying.
Yeah, I’ll definitely have to talk to a counselor about that. Thanks!
