I had to ask...chances?

I have something of an interesting story. I was supposed to go to tulane this year, but in addition to hurricane katrina, I tore my acl and had surgery. Because of all the complications, I withdrew and reapplied to college (BAHHH). Well, I applied to Rice ED, and I'm curious what you think:

Your numbers look strong enough, but you need to define yourself as more than just statistics on a page. Definitely emphasize the things that make you unique; be sure to mention your interests and passions and how they've affected your life.

You worked for an engineering firm and you helped teach physics... why? I'm not asking you to answer, but it'll definitely be in the minds of the admissions people and/or your interviewer (if any). Hopefully you've covered some of this on your essays already.

Rice is looking for more than just a "good student." Make sure you show everything you've got to offer; don't get wrapped up in stats. There are too many "OMG! How are my numbers?!" threads, IMHO.
