So I finally got my PSAT score back yesterday, and found out I got a 240! I was so excited... Then, I found out that my school sent in a box of tests in late, and that now my score won't be counted towards National Merit because of my school's mistake.
Yaaayyy.

That really sucks but you should try to look for independent scholarships that look at your PSAT scores. Just google scholarships for PSAT and a bunch of results should come up.

Thanks that’s a great idea, I didn’t even know there were scholarships other than National Merit’s… I think I’m going to have to take the SAT again if I want to enter The National Merit Competition!

Ostruck, SAT scores aren’t used for the National Merit competition unfortunately…only the PSAT scores are used.

Did you try calling NMSC? I would be super ticked at my school if this happened to me…

Yeah, they told me they have a 0 exception policy. My school somehow didn’t send the tests in until January 17, way after the answers had been released, so all the late tests were " compromised"

Scubasue, SAT scores are used for alternative entry, for kids who either missed the test or in cases like mine

If you end up in a situation where you could have used the NMF money for scholarships, especially a full ride, then I would look into filing a suit against the school.

Ostruck…thank you…I did not know that. I’m happy to know that you are going to have another chance.
