I hate it.

I hate it.

Who wants to guess why?

[YouTube - Asher Roth - “I Love College” (OFFICIAL VIDEO)](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43pkqeamXe8)

Ehhh… the heavy work load? Your roommate?

You have bad grades?

You have anger issues and ■■■■■ on internet forums?

^ this, instead of chilling and making friends.

If you are like Asher Roth, college is a lot of fun.

If you are like me, college is a bore.

so what’s your reason

The reason I hate college is because nowadays too many people go to college, which lowers the value of a college degree. If I want to stand out from the crowd I will likely need a master’s degree, but graduate school is too deep and too intense for a person like me who doesn’t like to work too hard.

Wow… I really don’t know what to say.

I don’t agree with literally what Asher Roth’s song, but the underlying message is that college is about experiences, relationships, and people. I will be sobbing throughout commencement this May.

I agree, I think college is half a daycare for young adults and half an institution to predispose young adults to working long hours. College is becoming a brand these days…basically certifying that you are a compliant and obedient law abiding citizen. Everything else is meaningless indulgence.

Because the teachers secretly hate you and you hate the URMs?

"I don’t agree with literally what Asher Roth’s song, but the underlying message is that college is about experiences, relationships, and people. I will be sobbing throughout commencement this May. "

You can also acquire life experiences, cultivate relationships and meet people outside of college. I think college is, or was intended to be, about acquiring knowledge and abilities that will enable you to become a productive member of society. But with so many people running around with college degrees, it’s uncertain whether I’ll ever be in a position where I can make meaningful contributions to society.

That is rather cynical. I’m going to be blunt, but this advice has helped me:

Shut the hell up and stop worrying about what other people are doing.

wow hopefully most people aren’t as pessimistic as you in college

Then drop out and give your spot to somebody who wants to be there.

I would hate not going to college even more than I hate college itself. I think that my real problem is knowing that a college degree has become a very standard minimum requirement for almost any decent job, meaning that your reward after college is averageness, not something worthy of a serious investment.

plays worlds smallest violin

You should be gald to get into college in the first place. And stop complaining about what other people are doing around you…

there are plenty of careers that don’t require a college degree

If you really don’t like college but you want a decent-paying job, look up good trade schools and find a trade you’d like. HVAC technicians, electricians, carpenters… they get pretty good pay because it’s hard work and because a lot of people think they’re “above” this sort of “blue-collar” work. so there aren’t as many people qualified to be mechanics, HVAC techs, etc.
