So why are you going to college then? So you can get a decent paying job? I have an excellent paying job but I don’t have a degree and do not wish to obtain one because I know there is money out there without having to waste two-four years of your life.

“I would hate not going to college even more than I hate college itself. I think that my real problem is knowing that a college degree has become a very standard minimum requirement for almost any decent job, meaning that your reward after college is averageness, not something worthy of a serious investment.”

Which is a good thing as the “average” person now has four years of higher education.

You are selfish; instead of wanting society to be better just so that society is better, you want to make your own mark so that people will know you for it and/or you take personal satisfaction in your own contributions.

More people with degrees = more able citizens = more people able to help society.

The prevalence of degrees makes it tougher for lazy individuals to distinguish themselves, which I suppose bothers you.

Calling a waaaaahbulance for the average doofus!

You’re acting like everyone comes out of a degree with the same amount of knowledge, no matter what degree or how much work they put into it. The people who ‘make a difference’ usually have degrees as well, so I don’t know what the f you’re crying about other than ‘Wahhh, people don’t think I’m special for lazing my way through a college degree!’ Get over it. You’re not being deep or insightful, you’re just being a typical stupid kid with half-baked rants spewing out of his hole.

raefless, the internet is probably not the best place to have a meaningful discussion about this as there many unintelligent (see two above posts) people who act on impulse most of the time.

My best suggestion is to find something that you truly enjoy instead of analyzing the school system because all you will find is more flaws.

If you want to do something meaningful with your life and you go to College then chances are your life isn’t anything like the guy pictured in the video.

Arguing about why you don’t like College in an online forum is ridiculous and if you don’t want to be in College then you should really evaluate why you are going to College. It is time to stop comparing yourself to other people(Which I still do the same) and start comparing College as something that is worth devoting 4 years of your life.

^Darko, from your posts, and I mean this disrespectfully, I assumed you were an angry, trained, typing monkey. It appears you are simply stupid It’s natural two idiots tend to agree with each other, so I can’t say I’m very surprised but I enjoyed the former image a lot more.

No, I was told that whenever I didn’t just focus on working hard, because at the end of the day if you did your best and can look yourself in the eye, you’ve done alright.
FWIW, I got into my dream school ED.

As is the same with most people. All that matters is you try your best and get results. As long as you have bread and water for dinner and a home. It doesn’t matter if or how you’ve made any kind of impact on anything.

Maybe you should make a fan club for me. Or an unfan club.

MissSilvestris, if I am a stupid kid then how come I do well academically even though I don’t work as hard as most of my peers?

Ha. I love it how, under the Similar Threads at the bottom of the page, what is the first result? “I hate college. Help me.” started by Darko21.

The reason why the degree alone won’t necessarily guarantee you a career is because things are more competitive these days. Deal with it. Get a solid GPA (3.5 or better), have job experiences, internships, and EC’s to put on your resume, and distinguish yourself from the pack so that you’ll be competitve in the post-college job market/grad school/whatever you plan on doing.

dramakitty, it sounds like I am all set. But since I am such a negative person, I’ll argue that it’s better not to be too qualified for a job, because otherwise the expectations and the workload will be higher.

Yea i hate college too. If i could get a 40-45k job offer right now, i would quit school and go to work but you need college to be successful or atleast improve your odds. Partying on the weekends keeps me sane and helps my motivation during the week.
