@Chris17mom thank you a lot I love when people have similar problems like me it puts me at ease especially when they’ve overcome it

You are so welcome! I remember being a teenager and it was tough! I think the hormones make us more emotional at that age…Just hang in there, it really does get better, I promise! :)

Why do adults on CC have the need to accuse children of being trolls? If you can help, offer them advice. If you think they’re trolling, walk away. Especially from posters who seem to be suffering from some sort of depression. Haven’t there ever been posts on CC from parents looking for help for college freshmen suffering from similar illnesses? Teens in this country are under an enormous amount of stress. Many are cutting themselves; some do far worse. If your child was reaching out to us for advice, how would you like us to respond?

OP, it’s normal to feel depressed and sad sometimes. Extended periods, as far as I know, aren’t normal. Please discuss this with your parents and see your family doctor. School can wait. When you’re ready, community college is a great place to explore interests and build up an academic record that will get you into a 4-year college. But your health and happiness have to come first. Good luck.

Actually the other poster did sound like he/she was suffering from depression despite repeatedly told by parents on CC to get some help but he/she didn’t.
If you do suffering from depression then get some help.

Look there was some kid with a 1.0 gpa and had BS his way to get his GED… He lost all respect he had and lost his part time job(Because he was so lazy) but he realize he lost all respect for himself… He waited till he was 21 to get into college so he went to a CC worked really hard… Transfer to a state worked really hard and published a paper. Scoring a 750 gmat…Then he got into stanford

Please realize that all hope is not lost! One of my teacher’s actually told us about his high school career, and it is very similar to yours: smart, but terrible grades (he almost didn’t graduate), just not inspired by much of anything. He went to a community college and finally was able to focus, became engaged in his studies and worked his way from community college to a state school and eventually an Ivy League institution for grad school. He is now a published author of multiple books, too!!

You are so young and you may think you have screwed up your life, but trust me, you have plenty of time to find yourself. Your life has purpose, perhaps you just haven’t found out what it is yet.

Also, you need to put your health and happiness before anything. Grades and school names don’t matter in the scheme of life. You may find, perhaps, that when you find something that interests and inspires you, the rest will come.
