Education Level JUNIOR
Non-AP Level FRESHMAN
Future (Telebears) Level SENIOR
College L & S
Major UNDECLARED

As a future telebears senior with more than 80 AP/IB credits, I got one of the worst telebears times for freshman, November 2nd, all because they input my AP/IB/CC credits a few days late. Why can't they bother to change my appointment or maybe input my credits earlier?!!!

This is such bull.... especially if I'm screwed for getting good phase II classes.

you got a lot more telebears session in your future and nov 2nd is like the second day of telebears for most freshmen so that’s not even that bad (I remember I had mine like a few days after everyone on my floor had theirs…now that’s some bs).

Stop whining, you’re AP units do not entitle you to TeleBEARS appointments with sophomores and juniors, only actual college units can do that. You have a first/second day freshman appointment.

so can someone explain what exactly is telebears appointment based upon? i am a sophomore, future telebears junior, non ap freshman. my phase I is october 28th.

telebears has a couple mysterious parameters. but generally, one of the factors will include how many units from Berkeley (maybe CC courses) you’ve taken.

I think telebears is total BS and 90% chance. I have senior standing, double major, have been taking 17+ units these past 2 semesters AND summer school and my phase 1 is 9/22…***!

Please, everyone, can you stop lying and BSing to us freshmen? I know for a fact that AP units do count for telebears and I know freshmen who have October 28th as their telebear time because of their AP credits. I have more units than those people but they still got MUCH better times than me?

Sorry, I really can’t just sit back and not say anything. Please don’t lie about the situation by saying that all freshman have november 1st/2nd and that AP credits don’t matter.

The problem here is that Berkeley didn’t input my credits quickly enough and now I’m stuck with a bad telebears time. Honestly, there are probably fewer than 10 out of the 5000 freshmen who have more credits than me, yet I’m still getting a relatively bad time.

calbear: 9/22 is earlier than everyone I know. ;)

Handle: stop ■■■■■■■■. if you really think it’s because they didn’t “input” your AP credits in time, then go bring that dispute up to Berkeley admin. Oh and btdubs, calling third and fourth years on this board liars is definitely not going to elicit polite responses.

Completely agreed with Leftist. Another way to think of it is this: each non-AP/IB grade level is assigned a certain time frame. The time frame you get is determined by your non-AP/IB level. Done and done…Remember that CC credits count towards your non-AP/IB level. Once you’re placed within the grade level-based window, your specific date is determined by your TeleBEARS level (college credits + AP/IB).

I hate to burst your bubble, but 80 AP/IB units is nothing special here. 1000 in 5000 would probably be more accurate. Do you think you are the only one at this school who got an IB diploma, and got a bunch of units taking the AP exam along with the equivalent IB exam? As fun as it is to bemoan your misfortune at the hands of others, you need to quit whining and realize that your telebears appointment, which is actually decent, is nobody’s fault.

I personally know 2 freshmen who have October 28th as their telebears date and they didn’t take community college classes. They only had around 50 AP credits, but Berkeley input their credits before they calculated telebears appointments. Compare this with others that I know who just got their credits input a few days ago and so also got crappy telebears.

HAHAHA. How many people on this forum would actually agree with what you just said? If the majority of people here can honestly, realistically agree with you, then fine. But I find that extremely, extremely hard to believe. Especially since I know quite a few EECS and MCB majors who have a lot of credits but not nearly that amount.

what other people are trying to tell you is whats done is done handlebars. whats the point of whining over something you can’t change?
put your mind into better use and start picking classes for phase I.

"Sorry, I really can’t just sit back and not say anything. Please don’t lie about the situation by saying that all freshman have november 1st/2nd and that AP credits don’t matter. "

So, why does Phase 1 last till Nov 9? There’s probably a couple of empty days at the end, but who else is going to be nov 1 or later? Sophomores?

Hmm, those two freshmen seem to be the exceptions, not the rule. I have junior standing and my Telebears phase I is on Oct 29, though I know someone in my year in DSP who has Telebears in a few days.

if you really think you’re so high and mighty, go to an ivy. you don’t belong in berkeley. the people here are smart as hell AND humble AND not total babies like you are.

if you really think there aren’t many people at cal “at your level,” you’re right, the majority of us are above you.

AP credits mean absolutely nothing here. In high school, they made it out to be such a big deal and ■■■, but once you come here, nobody really cares how many AP credits or 5’s you got.
