UHHHHHHHH this ***** gives me a B while everyone else gets an A eventhough im one of the few who participates, because i like to speak my mind and he hates me. Can teachers do this? What action can i take? I've never hated a person this much in my life. He always singles me out and picks on me. What can i do?

Prove him wrong. Nothinh ******* a teacher off as much as a student knowing the answers when he calls on you, keep speaking your mind. And if its bothering you that much talk to him, and if that doesnt work then talk to the principal... give him some of the papers that you have turned in and be like what would you have given me? Your grade could be completly justified.

Unfortunately, this happens quite a bit. Being a smart kid with personality is not seen as a good thing by many teachers. That's part of why SAT>GPA. In fact, if you have high GPA and SAT's that don't match it's a clear indication that you have no feistyness and are a people pleaser.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's unlikely that you will be able to make this teacher like you. If you feel this is really a bad thing then get a parent to insist you change teachers. I had to do that once for my D (though it was in middle school, not HS). Plus you do need to realize that people pleasing is a skill that perhaps you need to improve. Knowing how to play the game is something that you will need to do in the real world, including the real world of college.

All A's...one teacher: B

Her remarks: "Poor study habits, refuses to pay attention in class, very argumentative"

Love it.

i seroiusly dont know what to do about him. this just made me soooooooo mad/1

oh i love teacher liek that.
urso like me, except i get bad grades.

just argue with him, ask him to see your class profile where it shows what grades you got on tests and hw.

There is a girl in my AP US Hist. class that our teacher doesn't like because she participates too much. Mostly it's because she speaks without thinking/knowing the answer. She's really smart (97 in class), but she needs to stop blurting things out. Teavhers would like to see more people answering questions than just one person.

yeah, i have a teacher kind of like that too. It's nearly impossible to get teachers like that to like you, so I guess you could try talking to him, but don't hope for the situation to get too much better. These things just happen sometimes and you just sort of have to work through them

try to realize how this would sound to you

you are a middle aged, single, woman/man with no hope of getting a better career other than being x, and you have a student with about 30 more iq points than you, who could easily do your job, how would you feel?

kinda pathetic, right?

You know, that reminds of these feelings I get sometimes that I know a whole lot more than my teachers. Anyone else ever feel the same way?

It's very weird knowing the correct answer while my teachers say the wrong one.

How did you do on tests, quizes, and other graded assignments? If you got As on every grade in the class, but get a B overall, try to appeal the grade. If yoiu got Bs on your tests and other graded assignments, maybe you earned that B.

venka...see thats the probelm. this moron's class is soo stupid that we dont even take tests, turn in anything, or w/e we just sit there and listen to his boring crap i kid u not! and this is supposed to be honoros econ, i havent learend a single thing in economics here. oh and when i treid to study for the sat while we were watching some gya movie he took my scratchsheet that i was practicinhg on and ripped it up. second semester its gonna be ap gov and i have no idea how hes planning to teach that. i mean i know i can pass it by studying for a week on my own. but seriously why should i waste my time there?

Anon, I can completely see your reasoning but I really don't think feeling bad about yourself is an excuse for incompetence. I mean, yeah, it happens, but the main point of teaching is to get your students to go further than you, right? So people trying to feed their own egos should definitely NOT be teachers.

Oh and I have this AP chem teacher who only grades my labs and those of two friends; everyone else gets 100s automatically. Then again, we're the only ones passing (all with A's), so that may have something to do with it.

My bio teacher seems to do that ^. I'm the only one to turn everything in, but it seems like she only grades my papers.

uhm...if he doesn't actually teach then thats his problem, if you really want to know the stuff then go online and research it, if the guys not going to do his job talk to someone in a higher power if it really bothers you that much (ok...that sounds really snotty but thats NOT how its meant to be read at all...try reading it with a chipmunk voice?)

bumppppppppp has anyone ever successfully dealt with this type of thing with a counselor?

the first time he sent me to the office for "walking around the class, distrubting lesson" my counselor was really shocked that i would be sent in.

I don't know how well a counselor would work, but it probably depends on the school. Before going higher up to ANYONE, though, make SURE to talk to him first. You don't want to get him in trouble and then hear "why didn't you come to me first?" or something equally embarassing.

bumppppppppppp
