Ok so let me say first that i Never give up on anything that i want. I will be a Doctor one day but the mistakes i made are behind me. Costly, but behind me. Now that being said i will explain my situation and possible someone can anwser some questions.

I Have Earned 48 Credits and have six Classes left. All Difficult such as Calc I and II...Bio Lec and Lab...etc
Now given that i have recently come off one term of academic exclusion only to take calculus during the summer and Fail horribly because i was terribly unprepared(40 Hour work load, Moving, Breakup etc)

So My question is I was was to make a 2.0-2.3 GPA Would that terrible display of my first two years affect my last 2 because i will be transferring from a 2 year university to a 4 year.

What do you mean will it affect your last two years? Social scene? None. Overall GPA? Yes. Grad School? Likely. Med School? Most likely since it depends on your overall and science/calculus GPA.

As a patient, I think I would rather you gave up. Not trying to be mean, but someone needs to tell it to you straight.

The reason getting an MD is hard is that there are not many second chances with someone’s health. Getting it right 70% of the time does not cut it. Being unprepared to diagnose a patient or unprepared to perform a procedure can lead to death. The family does not care that you had marital problems that week or you just moved.

Sometimes there are worse things than giving up on what you want. You need to take a hard look at where you are and understand that it may be much better for you to find a career path that you can truly handle and that does not potentially lead to death for others if you happen to be unprepared.

One of the hardest decisions we all must make in life is knowing when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. (apologies to Kenny Rodgers)

Med schools will look at your overall and science/calculus GPAs, as well as MCATS scores; the latter two being “an equalizer” to “objectively” compare applicants.

You will almost certainly not be able to recover your GPA to the point where you will be able to be accepted by a medical school. It’s probably time to start looking at other options within the medical field.

“Back in my day” I knew a few people who were detemined to be Doctors whose undergraduate careers started off with less then stellar results. I don’t know if they were quite as low as you are referencing but to get into medical school they had to first pursue a graduate degree in a medical related field. So yes, unless things have changed, you could do it. But I don’t know if it would be practical. You would have to add two more years onto your education at a tremendous cost. I don’t even know what a masters costs these days. The future of physicians salaries are hard to predict but in general they will be going down. I don’t know if it would be worth it from a financial standpoint.

so your current gpa is 1.59 and your asking if you can get it up to what? also, why do you state that you have 101 hours at first but then you say you have 48 credit hours?
