So the week before the Stanford app was due, I had all the paperwork ready and sent in, except for one teacher recommendation. My bio teacher wrote a rec. for another university, but the days leading to Dec. 15 were bad in our relationship, so I decided to search out my retired English teacher instead. Now its almost 3 weeks, and still no reply. My other teachers have offered to write the last letter of rec, but I'm afriad it's already too late to submit it. My counselor (which used to work at Stanford) says that a little late recommendation won't be a problem, but when is a little late, too late? I'm really starting to get worried. Please help.

I guess it's still fine to send in your teacher recommendation now. Don't worry so much! I am just wondering, if your other teachers have already offered to help you write, why are you still waiting for your english teacher? If I were you, I would get one of the available teachers to write one and ask him/her to fax to Stanford asap.

So far the teacher that offered are not hardcore subjects. They are instead Theory of Knowledge, and music theory.

Ohhh I see. This is what I see on the application form: Forms 4 and 5 should be completed by teachers in two different subject areas from among: English, Math, Science, Foreign Language, and History/Social Studies. We will accept a maximum of two teacher references.

I am not sure where Theory of Knowledge and music theory fit, but I guess wildly that they don't fit any of the aforementioned categories. So maybe your best bet is to call your english teacher?
