How good is J-Camp? I really like journalism, and I'm an Asian American, and I'm really really interested in going next year as a rising junior. Any thoughts? Is it worthwhile? Is it prestigious to put on a college application and how selective is it?

Then that’s great! However, I’ve heard that Asians have a slight disadvantage…so really try to pack the punch with your essays!
I might be wrong though…the whole disadvantage thing might be for another summer program…I forget.

Really? haha I must have confused it with another camp then :]
Sorry about that. There’s just too many to keep track of…

But the part about it being difficult to get through is true though. I remember that much at least
There was a pretty active thread on J camp towards the beginning of the 2009 year where people were working on their applications. Have you tried searching for it?

Carin, J-Camp is a ver good program. You shall definitely apply next year. In the mean time, do you best in your studies and you will find many opportunities open for you.

My son participated in J-Camp two years ago during the summre between his junior and senior year in HS. If I recall correctly the application requires two to three assays. They also ask for your GPA and your test scores like PSAT, SAT, ACT, etc. I do not remember whether you need to send in recommendation or not.

Hey, so J-Camp applications are out! Anyone else as excited as I am? xD
Just wanted to ask if anyone knows whether or not we’re supposed to send SAT or PSAT scores because there doesn’t seem to be a place on the application to write them…And also, are the essays really only supposed to be about 250 words? Seems a little short to me…(especially when you compare with TASP lol)

I still can’t open the excel file and I’m getting really worried since the deadline is coming up really soon. Have any of you been able to open it?
