how hard is it to get into J Camp?

im intrested in applying for next summer. i know its very prestigious, but can anyoen who has been or has applied give me some more information? what do you have to do for the application? is there an essay? any info would be great. thanks so much

i applied but didn't expect to get in (and i didn't get in). it's EXTREMELY competitive. at the time of my application, i had a perfect GPA on my transcript. i also had a good recommendation from an english teacher. i haven't done anything journalism related though. i just enjoy blogging and writing...but yeah, i think it was probably the interest level that held me back.

good luck!

You have to show a lot of interest and experience in the field. A few awards might be helpful, too.

actually, i got in this year and had absolutely no experience or awards whatsover. i do think, however, i conveyed my passion for writing through the essays :) the campers i met were extremely diverse and smart, so it is competitive.

it was an AMAZING experience and i wouldn't trade it for the world. good luck!

I'm editor-in-chief of our paper next year and I am really intersted in the J camp. I actually recently discovered it and I wish I could've gone to it!

It says its not just for Asians...so if I am an Indian (INDIA)..will that harm me in anyway?

Also, is there anyone who has recently attended that would like to share their opinions about the program?

bump for informations pwease

When does the application become available? I can't find it on the AAJA site.

I believe not until February. I'd like to see last year's app though.

hardworker,
india & pakistan both count as asia
i'm paki and i've always put asian-american as my race on standardized tests and stuff, and they are open to non-asian people as well
