I have no idea what other schools I should apply to...

I'm currently a junior in New Jersey. My mom is basically forcing me to apply to 8-10 schools. However, I only know of 5 that I'd like to apply to.

Those five are:
-Elon University
-East Carolina University
-University of South Carolina
-Saint Joseph's University
-Rutgers University

I have no idea where else I want to apply. I've visited all of the above schools and loved them all. I also visited Clemson and Coastal Carolina and did not like either. I have about a 3.5 GPA and I'll be taking the ACT in June. I'm predicting anywhere from a 29-32 because I took a lot of practice tests and I keep getting 30's. Please, if you could enlighten me and tell me about some other schools I might like I'd appreciate it!

P.S. - I really don't want to stay in NJ so no schools there.

I’m guessing you want to go to school in the south? Look at Wofford, Elon, Furman, UNC-Asheville, NC State, UNC-Wilmington etc…

yeah I’d love to go down south but pretty much anywhere in the country is fine besides like California, Hawaii (places extremely expensive to fly to.) also, I will be applying for financial aid and will hopefully get a scholarship because my parents can only pay about 15k a year. Thanks Pierre I’ll check those out :)

What do you want to major in, and is money an issue?

Why not look at University of Alabama if you like south? I heard they give decent amount of merit aids to qualified OOS students

Each of the UNC-adjunct schools has a distinct personality–Asheville and Wilmington have incredibly different vibes.

I’d look at App State as well.

I want to major in either History or Secondary Education-History depending on what the school offers. And yeah, money is an issue because my parents can only pay like 15k a year but they’d be struggling doing that because the taxes in NJ are insane

Also, I’d prefer a school with at least 5,000 students or close to it

Why don’t you look at Hobart/William Smith in Geneva NY. They have a major in each, give merit aid, and you can get a teaching certificate for secondary ed there. There are also oportunities to sub in the local schools-and some students do-not well-paid but a chance to get experience.
The merit aid can be substantial-some students get a free ride.
HWS is under-rated and up and coming. It’s a small school, where you would get lots of individual attention. I don’t think it has 5,000 students-would have to look it up.More like 4000…

Thanks everyone.

bump!

bumpity bump

bump :frowning: sorrry

Are any of those schools rock-solid safeties? If not, add a couple, plus a big reach. That will put 3 more on your list, and make mom happy. :)
