I have NO idea what to do with my life!!!! READ BELOW

Ok, I know that you don’t have to know exactly which career you might want to have in college and I know that a lot people still don’t know what they want to do after college.
The main problem is that I like multiple different subjects and I can see myself doing something in each. I love history, science (esp. chemistry), math (esp. algebra), and French. I’ve been thinking of doing something in science but when looking for careers I’m wayyy too picky. I like working with kids too.
For example:

  • I want a job that pays well ($100,000+)- I know money isn’t everything but I grew up poor and I never want to find myself there again
  • I want a job that is extremely rewarding (IDEALLY: helping kids/people that are less fortunate, refugees, orphans, etc)- problem is the pay isn’t best
  • I want a job where it isn’t the same exact thing every single day
  • I want to love my job
  • I reallyyyy don’t want to go through 12 years of school (for me, 10 years tops)- but this is not 100% required
  • I don’t want to feel uncomfortable
  • I know you might be thinking: pediatrician
Here’s the ONLY petty reason why I’m hesitant to pursue it:
  • I know this dumb and this is probably just my teenage brain, but you have to touch kids (including teens) “up there” and “down there” for yearly checkups- I REALLYY don’t want to touch a 17 year old grown boy down there

I know that not all pediatricians perform physicals. I had to go through physical therapy when I was younger because I was not walking correctly, and the physician there was a pediatric physical therapist.

Another option is a dentist or orthodontist. An orthodontist that runs their own practice can make well over a hundred grand a year.

I know that secondary school teaching does not pay very well, but that is your best bet for subjects like history and French.

Best of luck to you!

Sounds like nurse practitioner to me. Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. It has everything you described and only need 6 years of school.

Well you can always go into the science field, specifically what you like, chemistry. But most scientists who do research, whether experimental or theoretical, have a PhD or Masters. So if you wanted to go for that, both kind of degrees would meet your 10 years of school requirement (4 years of undergrad and around 2 or 3 for Masters OR around 6 for a PhD). You would most likely make over $100000 and you wouldn’t really be doing the same thing over and over cause everyday there’s something new going on in the science community. Especially chemistry, cause there’s so much fun stuff you can do and achieve in chemistry. You wouldn’t feel uncomfortable because you’ll be around people who love their job and love science.

Although, I might be a bit biased since I want to go into nuclear chemistry when I’m older.
