so im a junior in high school yes i realize i have a whole year but I’m just preparing myself now for the stress I’m about to receive from visiting, applying and deciding where i want to go to college
my number one option is university of texas as I have lived in texas my whole life, but I’m scared if i don’t get accepted to the major i want, where i would go to school. my mom, my grandpa and currently my brother all attended baylor university so you can probably imagine how forced i feel to go there (i really don’t want to) i kind of want to go out of state and major in either business or communications preferably the advertising or marketing field i want to attend a larger university as i am pretty social and like meeting new people i would also like to join a fraternity, currently i am looking into the OU (i have family in norman) University of Arizona and University of Arkansas i realize all of these are very big in greek life and partying but i would also want to go somewhere that has good academics, i was looking at Alabama but they are not very well known for their academics so please help me out! oh and also I’m visiting Colorado State University pretty soon (;
A lot of time financial constraints drive the process so be sure to look at costs as you look at colleges.

Alabama is ranked HIGHER than all of those schools. And, Bama has more higher stats students than those schools do.
Have you asked your parents how much they’ll pay?
What are your stats?
Don’t know how well your SAT/ACT is, but Alabama does offer an automatic full-tuition scholarship for a 32 ACT and 3.5 GPA.
Step 1: Find out how much your parents are willing to pay and if they will place any restrictions on you - for example, I’ll pay this amount but only if you major in X or attend University Y.
Step 2: Identify schools within that budget or schools that will offer merit-based aid to students who have an academic profile like yours.
U of A, Alabama, and Colorado State are fine universities if you don’t get into UT-Austin.
If you want help from people here, provide some information about your GPA, test scores, class rank, AP courses, extracurriculars, etc.
i mean my mom and grandpa are pretty big baylor alums my mom name is on the sorority meeting house at baylor (might not believe me but thats okay) and they pay quite a bit for my brother to attend baylor but i can do anything under 40
and my gpa is hard to scale at my school we have a 6.8 scale (would be 7 but freshman year everyone had to take a lower level class which even if they got an a it would account as a 6 towards the 7 scale) but typically speaking converting it to the normal way i would have around a 3.6-3.8
Test scores?
Class rank? That’s the number one criterion for UT admission.
