So I called Syracuse's admissions office yesterday morning at 8:30 since I had recieved my unexpected rejection letter the day before. I hadnt been talking for 2 minutes and the woman cut me off and said "Sir, we have 23,000 applications that we have yet to even look at, you need to send an email to the appeals committee." The fact that they hadnt even looked at 23,000 applications stunded me. If you havent heard anything, it certaintly dosen't mean that you were rejected, because they most likely havent even gotten around to your application yet.

i mean i understand that they have a lot of applications, but dont you think that when the were getting thousands in, in like november, even more in december and the months that follow, they would realize how many people were applying and maybe begin the process slightly earlier. it seems a little irresponsible that they didnt start processing lots of applications sooner. i appreciate you relaying the message to all of us disappointed people still waiting for an answer

no problem, im glad I could help. It’s completly irresponsible on their part. I probably won’t get a decision on my appeal until mid-may, where I possibly could have registered somewhere else. I wonder what their retention rate is going to be with the accepted students, since so many people are disgruntled…

oh bummer.
sigh
one of 23000 (though i guess she PROBABLY exaggerated to get HER frustration across)
is it weird for a person to feel like a needle in a haystack?
or a needle in a BIG needle-stack?

this makes me grumpy.

:S

p.s. i’d hate to have to wait super long just for a rejection email.
THAT would **** me off at many, many levels.

:P

sigh

I find it hard to believe that they still have 23,000 to look at…maybe that was the total applications received, some of which have not been looked at yet.

That being said, there are plenty of other schools who received as many, if not more, and were able to get their notifications out by 4/1.

Frustrating.

It’s true that there are plenty of schools who were overtaken by a large, unexpected amount of applicants. But Syracuse dropped the ball. When I called Thursday morning she said that there were 23,000 applicants that they still had to make decisons on. Whether it was an exaggeration or not, thats what she said.

Well I hope everyone hears soon! so unfair to make people wait like this! Daughter got her email today at 4pm…accepted to her 1st choice (Education). Her complete application and all supplemental materials were sent in mid-November.
Good luck everyone!

She sounds rude!
