I have the scores for MIT but...

I'm a girl from Iran. (I guess Iran is super underrepresented)
SAT math 1: 760
SAT math 2: 770
SAT physics: 800
TOEFL: 633
GPA: 19.3/20
This seems to be "good enough" for being considered but I have had a few weird experiences in my life and I'm worried they may affect my chances.

First of all, I'm not 17, I'm 21! I'm not going to get into the details but starting with the senior year, I had major family issues. My senior year grades are not as good as my previous years and after that, I was not allowed to study by my parents (but now, I am). I'm going to explain all about it in my application but I wanted to know if these things would have a negative effect on my chances.

BTW, having an interview tomorrow ^_^

If you had real extenuating circumstances I’m sure MIT will understand. Your scores are amazing! Good luck!

Thank you very much!
I come from a very conservative background. They believe women should just cook and clean and make babies. This is why I couldn’t study. Of course it’s more complicated than that but you get the gist :)
