Hi, i am a student from Nepal seeking for undergraduate admission in Us. But i haven't applied yet. So i am in dilemma that which college to apply for need based scholarship criteria.
I have secured 1600 in SAT (450 cr + 670 maths + 480 writing). please help me out.

I hate to be so harsh, but I don’t see how to avoid it. You have 3 problems:

There are very few US colleges still accepting applications.

There are very few US colleges that are willing to give much financial aid to foreign students.

There are practically no US colleges that give significant need-based financial aid to foreign students.

Would you consider waiting a year to better prepare yourself? You might use the extra time to do the following:

Take the SAT again (and again, if necessary) in order to better your score. This needs to be absolutely stellar in order to be considered for a scholarship

Do more research into US universities that offer financial aid to foreign students. A few years ago I was directed to look into Council of International Schools, or Overseas Association for College Admission Counseling. My list is a few years old, but perhaps there are updated resources you might find helpful.

Good luck!

i highly doubt that there are any U.S. schools still accepting applications that also provide significant aid to internationals. Very few U.S. schools provide major financial aid to internationals. The majority of those few are the most difficult in the U.S. to gain admission to, accepting fewer than 1 in 10 applicants, and even fewer international students. Your CR and writing scores are far too low for consideration by such schools. I agree with all of miralwood and amarkov’s suggestions.

Agree that you should take a year to study and retake the SAT, and learn more about US schools.

Here is a thread about need-based aid for Intl students:

It was started several years ago, so ANY information should be confirmed on the primary source, the college website. Pay particular attention to the recent post #248 which provides some important links and advice.

Have you looked on the Nepal thread to see how other international students are handling SAT and financial aid?
