Is this true??

Not true. CS

It is true. Cost $6 per credit hour. So a course that is 3 hours will be $18.

This is completely true.

Six dollars per credit hour.
So… claiming GRG 305 for Human Geo would cost 18$.

Don’t listen to Collegeshopping. This is coming from a current student.

As a parent that pays a tuition bill for a current student and two past students, we have never been billed for claimed AP credit. Could this be major or college specific? Or a new policy that has recently gone into effect? I checked and the year my daughter matriculated and the course catalog she is bound by, there is not a charge for AP credit claim. So the question needs to be quantified as to which year matriculation occurred. Also a quick search finds the current cost varies by college/major. So why Mr. priest is correct for the day in the life of Mr. Priest, I stand by what I said based on the day in the life of collegeshopping’s kid.

My son is an chemical engineering major and had to pay $6 per credit to get credit for his AP classes. He took a hard look at all the AP tests he took and only claimed credit for the courses that were part of his major. AP Physics (the non calculus one) was useless as was one of the economics courses he took.

AP credit is not granted by one’s college nor are the costs based on one’s major/college; rather it is petitioned and charged through the Center for Teaching and Learning. [Search for Exams by Type Center for Teaching and Learning](http://ctl.utexas.edu/programs-and-services/student-testing-services/search-for-exams-by-type)

This has been the case since my first kiddo matriculated in 2008. The cost per AP course was $6 per credit hour in the fall of 2008 and remained at $6 for kiddo #2 this fall. One is in McCombs and one is in Cockrell.

When petitioning, there is a separate bill that appears in the What I Owe page. It is not part of a tuition bill. Perhaps that is where the confusion lies.

My son is a sophomore. Last year we paid $6 per AP credit hour he petitioned. It was billed through “What I owe” along with all other fees.

same here – my freshman son just finally posted some of his credits – $6 per credit hour and you have 10 days to pay it in “what I owe” at UT.

And when I was at UT, tuition cost $4 a credit hour for actual classes!
