Hey y'all, so I had a question regarding the credit by exam procedure. So I know we have to pay 6$ per credit hour claimed or petitioned for, but I was wondering when is the earliest I can claim credit?

I'm not looking to cash in all my AP exams, just a few so I can meet prerequisites. Will all of this be explained at Freshman Orientation?

my son is a freshman now at UT – he did not get around to claiming his AP credits until this semester, but the earlier you submit the hours (you can’t until an advisor approves it and you have the scores sent to the school), the more advanced your standing is for registration. He wishes he would have done it sooner to help his registration for this semester.

For what it is worth, choose your credits carefully and talk with the advisor about what they recommend you do. My son did not claim an AP credits in his major or related classes, so he re-took calculus and intro computer science, but did claim the other hours.
