I hope I don't lose my mind

because I was just about done writing a paper when the computer automatically rebooted and deleted the file. Today was my first time working in the computer lab (because my laptop is broken) and didn't know that the computers there did that at 2 every morning. Now, I have to start over! Only 6 pages, but still, I could've been done by now! And I still have two exams to study for. OMG, could you hear my pain? I want to die.

^ overreaction but at least I'm not crying.

Ugh, I have no choice but to suck it up. So I guess I'll just listen to some music to calm down and then start over.

Wow, I'm actually surprised you're not more saddened than you seem in your first post. Well, there's a lesson in this: don't save work till 2am?

wrong lesson... the lesson is to save your work constantly.

And to get a mac so you will not have a broken computer and be forced to use the computer labs.

Yes, save constantly... I usually save after every big paragraph just to be safe... i would be super upset if that happened to me.

Trust me, I was freaking out. I didn't get any sleep, but I finished the paper on time and aced one of the exams. Don't know about the second one.

It's about time that I get a new computer (I want iBook this time), but I have to save up for a couple of weeks. Until then, I will have to make do with the computers in the lab. The keyboards and mouse are always sticky (people sneeze right on the computer), but I'll get over it.

As another backup, especially when working in a lab, email the paper to yourself every so often.

Well, I saved periodically but anything not saved on a disk is saved in a temp file, which is the file that empties itself out at 2 am every day (I didn't have a disk with me). I wish the proctor had given me a warning, but I can't blame him either.
