<p>I've taken the bartending class, though I skipped out on the final because I wasn't interested in a job with them and I was really busy at the time. The course is not bad as a primer, although its usefulness definitely depends on the instructor -- some are more interesting than others -- and how much experience you already have with mixing drinks. With some instructors, you won't learn anything with that you couldn't learn from CocktailDB. Though a lot of people gripe about it, I found the most useful thing to be the TIPS certification. (It's the alcohol safety component, not unlike AlcoholEdu, but three hours one day. It's taught from a legal/practical standpoint, though.)</p>

<p>It's pretty selective, in that your final exam score (both written and practical) pretty much determines whether or not you become a member of the organization. If you're not, no gigs. They only take a few each semester. However, I'm fairly certain that not everybody who takes the exam wants to join the agency, so your competition may not be as stiff as it appears.</p>

<p>Not really. But I don't like the fact that people ussualy associate alcohol and pubs directly to geting wasted and moral depravation.
One of my favourite past times is siping 1 or 2 beers (rarely, very rarely more than that), talking and laughing with good friends, listening to Pink Floyd and the sort. And that's what people usually do in pubs. At least in my hometown. Except for concerts, when it's total debauchery, there is no depravation and very few $hithousings</p>
