I just got an Honors Gemetry score back and I'm crushed. B+ again -

In middle school, I used to be a pretty good math student, a math club member, a state MathCount contestant etc. - now I have so much problems with Honors Geometry.

What could I be doing wrong?

Speaking as an Honors Geometry teacher:

You’re not doing anything “wrong.” A B+ is a totally respectable grade.

Geometry is unlike any math course you’ve ever taken before. You have to learn to let the problem to lead you, to take what you’re given and to play with it until it provides you with a direction.

Some people who have never ever been good in math find Geometry a delight. Others, who have never had to give their math grade any thought at all, find it difficult. They don’t even know what to ask, they just know that it hasn’t “clicked” yet for them.

And that’s OK. Don’t believe everything you read-- not every grade you get throughout life has to be an A. The occasional B (or even, gasp, C) is absolutely survivable, and probably very good for everyone. At some point in your life, you’re going to make some mistakes, and far better that you learn to deal with them now.

The good thing for you is that math next year is Algebra II & Trig, so you’ll be back in your comfort zone.

calm down nothing is wrong with a b+ when you go to 10th grade good luck keeping a B

@ILikePlants yes, it can be discouraging to be in that position coming from a math competition background. I did quite a few math contests (including MathCounts - made nationals twice), and found myself in that same position time to time occasionally. A B+ isn’t a bad grade, but as @bjkmom suggested, you should play around with the problem and try different things when you’re stuck.

Wait 'til college…I’ve had a couple classes where keeping even a C was a struggle (for me).

I got A- for the most recent test. I’m making a comeback! Thanks all for your support!

You have no idea how frustrating it is when my GPA , weighted and unweighted, get screwed up because of stupid speech graduation requirement. My teacher has been saying she’ll bump me to a 90 (I have a B+), but she can’t seem to figure out how to use our school’s grading system. RIP GPA. Just move on and don’t be discouraged, as mentioned above.

A B+ on one test? Not really end of the world… Just study harder, as my parents tell me.
