this was my first time taking it and i am a sophomore.
i got 21 english, 29 math, 14 reading (omg.) 22 science
wow.. i know i did real bad on reading but i didnt expect this score. lol
composite score is 22.

Read faster. I guarantee your main problem was time. PACE YOURSELF. Learn how to read fast and comprehend well, it will help for both the Reading and Science.

As far as English and Math, it is all content. Study. Use "Cracking the ACT" by Princeton Review. The content is always the same as far as what is tested, and that PR book really helps. Doesn't really help for Reading and Science, you just have to read fast and comprehend.

The ACT is a race, not a test. As soon as you figure that out, you will do much better.

As someone who got a 34 on reading, I would suggest reading the entire passage before even looking at the questions. This method seems to be synonymous with most who did really on the test.

Now that you know what method to use, go to your local library and get all of the practice ACT books that you can find....I think you get the picture.

Also, to bring up that English score you're going to have to study grammar. Good job on the math!

^Grim Shogun, your suggestion doesn't really help :P But you speak truth in a matter of fact. Sometimes I just finished the section right at the last second... with a bit of scribbling in :) after the proctor says to put our pencils down.
