I just realized there's a typo

in my commonapp essay, including the one I sent into penn...
What do I do now?

I'm ****ed because I should have caught that mistake...

dun worry it’s k

It shouldn’t be that bad, what exactly was the typo?

lol that is the def. the reason they will reject you.

It’s not big deal. One typo doesn’t effect your entire 4 years of high school and app.

I’m missing a linking verb in a sentence.

yayyy.

It shouldn’t be too bad

unless your entire piece was riddled with grammar mistakes, I’m pretty sure they’ll overlook it.

everyone’s trying to be supportive - and thats a great thing - but not to the point where it gives the OP an illusion. yup one error shouldn’t be TOO bad, but consider this:

[Penn Admissions: Admissions Tips](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/tips.php)

THE THIRD ADMISSIONS TIP SAYS:

“Please be sure to proofread your essay for spelling and grammar. No, really, we mean it. Seriously.”

I know, which is why I want to crawl under a rock and be like “…”
It’s a fine piece of writing, I think, but I really don’t want to be marred by the blemish of a typo…

funny story to tell if you make it and a convenient scape goat if you don’t. I doubt it can make or break you.

Necrophiliac- haha, I totally agree

i suggest you check out the clamfart thread on the yale page…don’t worry about it

At least your error is 1 out of 700 words. I misspelled a word on my Yale music supplement and it’s one of only 4 words in the song title. And if it makes you feel any better, the word I misspelled was “dance”

haha! I spent days reviewing my essay, finally turned it in and noticed the most ridiculous spelling mistake ever… I misspelled “deer” as “dear” twice, and in a quote! god help me. Cried for a couple of hours, found this thread and laughed. Thank you for sharing. The reason we are all applying to college is to learn, and what good is all of this if we can not learn from our mistakes!
