Ok, well I am a little worried right now. The night before I was going to submit my common app essay, I edited a sentence in the paper. Then, I proofread it twice before submitting it. However, after everything has been sent, I found a TYPO in this sentence. Here it is:

Instead, I am able to more fully appreciate of all the intricate processes that enable a flower to decorate the Earth.

Is this a big deal? I literally sent that flawed essay to HYPS and most other top schools. Should I contact them and just alert them that I proofread the essay many times and that this error still managed to sneak past me?

Dont bother alerting them. It’s not going to matter. I heard that by notifying adcoms of your mistake you actually make it worse on yourself. Just let it go.

Really, I was seriously considering faxing my schools a revised draft as I really dont want any of them to think I wasn’t taking my applications seriously. Would it really highlight the mistake? I thought some random secretary just made the change and no one would be the wiser.

wait I’m sorry I don’t follow…I know that I messed up the grammar and that you correct it by changing around of and all if thats wat your saying.

yeah I had a fragment and I had a typo. I spelled ethnic,-ETHIC. whatever. im just gonna forget about it and hope that the admissions people dont really count against me

Yeah, I wrote “brought” instead of “bought”, made a mistake calculating my number of volunteer hours on the activity section, and something else that I can’t even remember anymore. Oh well, there’s nothing I can do about it now.
