I keep getting rejected.

Question, though.
I thought people were admitted to Ross only in their sophomore year?
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I also think that you didn't get any of these internships because you're a freshman. The company I work for has summer interns but a lot of them are SENIORS in college......I would get a paid summer job at your age. The experience would probably be just as valuable.

You should also look for internships that necessarily doesn't pay. I mean I interned for small companies for free to like minimum wage; the payout in the future for small work now is not even comparable. My brother also interned for some NPOs when he was in high school that were within the District for free. (D.C.) Don't think big, think experience.

Do you have an accent which makes communication difficult? Do you understand the American culture? Does your behavior seem out of place?

bummer on the McDonalds reject, man.

Some of you need to get off his back.

Chanman, almost all freshman have the same problem as you. Conclusion: Don't sweat it.

troll alert? chanman you DEFINITELY said last year that you were taking a year off after getting rejected from wharton. and you claimed that the reason why you were rejected was because you were suspended for stabbing someone in your h.s. or something

^? wth.
Maybe he just changed his mind- the hell do you care where he goes to school?

p.s.- you don't know what a troll is. Go back to deciding what Investment Bank, per division, is "good enough" for you (inside joke).

chanman,

Are you the same guy who got rejected from Wharton and threw a fit? Didn't you also have your essay posted online?

harvardman: yes i was rejected from wharton. I also threw a soda at someone. (no, i didn't stab someone) i now go to michigan.

kotchian: yes, i threw a fit. no , i didn't post essays online (or if i did , they weren't wharton essays)

The chances of getting into a Google, Microsoft, or Goldman internship are exceptionally low regardless of school or gpa. They would almost definitely not consider a freshman at one of these companies to don't let that worry you.

Furthermore, there are countless great other firms that hire interns. It appears all you did was apply to the today's 'trendy' firms. The business world is far more expansive than these.

Finally, don't rely too heavily on the 4.0. Getting a 4.0 at a large business school is easier than it sounds and recruiters know this.

getting a 4.0 is pretty damn hard at stern :(

u threw a soda at someone. y?

Well if he keeps the 4.0 for sophomore or junior internships then THAT would be impressive and would probably give him a leg up.

Chanman, the A+'s at Ross Pre-Admit are impressive, but you haven't taken any REAL business courses yet. And a freshman with 4.0 with no experience doesn't count for much. I know a lot of sophomore ross 09'ers with 4.0's after the fall semester, but that all went down the drain this past semester.

They applied for a lot of internships showing a 4.0 and they didn't get any either. It's not all about grades.

first of all you're a freshman and most firms want juniors for internships (they want to be able to hire you after the summer). secondly, you're MUCH too good for jobs such as best buy and mcdonalds..

you can
1. start small, find a smaller/local firm that is willing to hire you
2. work for free ... if you don't get into an internship you can email them saying you are willing to work for nothing because you want experience.

i get the feeling that best buy/target/kmart reject me because they think i'm gonna leave the state after the summer, and don't want to invest training me :(

hey chanman can you link me to your other crazy posts, the soda one and the essay.

"Invest" training you to work at Target or KMart?

And chanman, your attitude pretty much says it all. First off, you applied to what, 6 of the top companies in the world that receive close to (or over even) a million applications a year. And to be brutally honest, I doubt any of them were impressed with your 4.0 in business. All of them regularly receive applications from people with 4.0's at top schools (and in more difficult majors).

What kind of work experience do you have in the past? References?

Either way, I got rejected from all but a few smaller places (possibly one bigger one that is just opening up) as an engineer here at Cornell for internships this summer. It's difficult after your first year (for me, I don't have the technical knowledge necessary for electrical engineering jobs; you probably don't have the more specific knowledge necessary for business jobs). ANd I applied to WAY more than just 6 of the most well-known companies in the world (honestly, working for a smaller company is what I want to do eventually anyway).

threw a soda at someone? hmmmmm.......0_0
