I keep getting rejected.

It's even hard for JUNIORS to get those internships (except for McDonald's and Best Buy) so don't even worry about it. Work hard and try again in two years.

The companies you applied to receive many applications every year. Freshmen do not get these jobs. Internships at those companies are very competitive. There are many 4.0s in business, so you MUST have experience to obtain an internship from those top companies.

When I went to a career expo, the recruiters wanted juniors or seniors and students with experience. Then, people may ask "How do I get this experience if I can't get an internship in the first place?" You have to apply to many companies, small and local ones too. You will not hear back from most of your prospects. You may get a few calls. If you have any volunteer or extracurricular activities, put those on your resume.

Best Buy and McDonalds don't care about your grades. They want people who will interact well with the customers and do a good job. It is also possible that they wanted people who would stay in the area all year to work.

Aim for an internship where you have contacts. Your parents, parents of your friends. It is very very competitive, you should try to use personal contacts as much as you can.
It makes a big difference.
Good luck to you and don't give up.
