I keep having to reschedule my Brown interview

My interviewer has asked twice to do it on dates I happen to have big Mock Trial or Speech & Debate competitions-- state qualifying and the like. Do you think he’s counting this against me, or do you believe that perhaps he feels that this interview isn’t important to me?

I just can’t not go to these tournaments – I have several team members counting on me as both an officer and a fellow team member.

Aaah.

He probably thinks “wow, this is a person who has a lot on their plate and really cares about their ECs”

If he’s a reasonable person, he’s not going to hold the scheduling difficulties against you. Just be very apologetic about having to re-schedule, emphasizing that you have no control over mock-trial or debate schedules and that you have team members relying on you to be there.

I HOPE he doesn’t “count it against you”. But I understand your worries, people CAN be like that, even subconsciously. But there is no way around it, you need to go to those things. I won’t give details of my D’s Brown interview but it was a hot mess - and she gave up something HUGE for it. NOT worth it.

I think I should be fine. I mean, I don’t think I had much of a choice - but I just found out my interviewer did speech & debate himself in high school and knows exactly what i’m going through :)
