I know for sure that Bowdoin is 100 times better than Washington and Lee

I am Nick Zhao from Gig Harbor, Washington. Email: nckzhao@yahoo.com.
It is certainly un*ing believable to me that I got an early write from Bowdoin but got *ing waitlisted from Washington and Lee, which is inferior to Bowdoin in many ways. I have heard people gotten into Stanford rejected by Bowdoin before. Sure, Colleges should not be this arrogant theses because by the end of the day, they are just creating more problems for themselves.

I don't really understand your last sentence. But, I know what you mean, Bowdoin seems to be really random with admissions. Also keep in mind that the bigger schools don't look so closely at the applicants, stats are more important. Bowdoin probably does a better job at analyzing every applicant. A school like Bowdoin knows exactly what they want, and they will only except you if you are that person. As far as I can tell, Bowdoin seems to really like kids with high grades-- whereas other schools look for other things. Bowdoin says that the most important thing in admissions is overall academic record. While some schools, Bates for example, think other things are more important. Who knows, though, it all seems pretty random.

i think you could probably say the same thing about any small liberal arts school. but yeah in general all colleges have been so weird with acceptances this year.

Did you ever visit W&L? Interview with W&L (thru alum or on campus)? Do you have a particular EC that you plan to pursue, and if so, did you communicate that to W&L?

W&L definitely considers demonstrations of interest, and presumably lack thereof as well. If you did not visit, interview, or make an EC contact, there were probably plenty of qualified applicants who did, with comparable academic qualifications. Know your audience.

100 times better might also be a bit of a stretch?

I agree that Bowdoin's better. But that's just my biased opinion. :)

If you were going to choose Bowdoin over W&L anyways, there's no reason to get mad about being waitlisted at W&L.

College admissions are random anyways; what one college wants isn't necessarily what another wants.

W & L emailed me an interview request in January. I ignored it because I didn't really want to go their anyway, it was just to impress one of my friend who loved Virginia so much.
