<p>After years of just using my ti-89 and seeing as how the ACT doesnt allow a ti89 i forgot how to solve exponential equations</p>
<p>How do you do:</p>
<p>2^x=24</p>
<p>2^x=3</p>
<p>Without a calculator</p>
<p>2^x = 3</p>
<p>log(base2)(3)=x</p>
<p>You could probably just leave it like that. And for the other one, same thing but base 24.</p>
<p>ya thats the only way u wouldve learned to do one like that so that is all they will expect. but for a different type where the answer is a whole number:</p>
<p>2^3x=64
2^3x=2^6
since the bases are equal
3x=6
x=2</p>
<p>Remember, there are several helpful identities for logarithmic equations that can aid. Look up the Wikipedia article or google it.</p>
